LeBron James could not have scripted a better debut with his new team than to do it against the defending champion New York Knicks on the night they would unveil their championship banner and reveal their rings.

The King has never shied away from expressing his love for Madison Square Garden, and usually plays exceptionally well there. In fact, he wanted to be drafted by the Knicks, but fate had other plans.

During the season-opener against the Knicks, he was met with ‘We Don’t Want You’ chants and heckling from some of their courtside fans. But he kept his head down and almost registered a triple-double.

But what was most important was getting that win. James and his 76ers had the last laugh, returning home knowing they set the early advantage in their battle against every other team in the East.

In the hours after the game, every conversation was about how well the 41-year-old adjusted on the fly to help his new team. But one clip in particular started to go viral and ended up catching a very important person’s attention.

While listening to our National Anthem, LeBron James disrespects our Country! I said right from the beginning that he’s no good, a TOTAL DISGRACE. LeBron James should apologize to all of those Great American Warriors and Heroes who died for the American Flag, and all that our Country stands for!

This was the President taking a direct shot at LeBron James after the latter was seen practicing his golf swing while the National Anthem was being performed. This was not the first time Donald Trump had taken a shot at the four-time champion, and might not be his last.

Given how everything Donald Trump says goes viral, no one had time to breathe before this latest criticism of LeBron James dominated every platform.

Naturally, it would also reach the Philadelphia 76ers superstar. With his home debut coming up, cameras were pointed towards the 6’9″ forward to see how he reacts and behaves during the national anthem.

There may not have been any more practice golf swings. But the father of three was not entirely still. He still swayed around a bit, moving his legs and shoulders from time to time.

Towards the end, James motioned with his legs as if he drove the ball down the course. It was as if he hit two birds with one stone. On the one hand, he seemed to understand that not paying attention during the anthem was wrong.

At the same time, motioning with his legs and shoulders was possibly a response to Trump, indicating that he was not going to listen to everything the President says. After all, they have butted heads on several occasions, but James has generally been quiet of late.

LeBron James has been practicing his golf swings during the national anthem for a while

Even though Donald Trump and his Republican party are in the midst of campaigns for the upcoming midterms, this video was egregious enough for him to take time out and slam LeBron James.

However, this is not the first time the four-time league MVP has been practicing his golf swing while the National Anthem was being performed. It seems that ever since he picked up golf, his mind seems to switch to it every moment he gets.

A video from his final year with the Los Angeles Lakers also shows the 22-time All-Star practicing his golf swing during the exact time the National Anthem was in session. That might have gone unnoticed, at least to Trump. But this time, the latter decided to act upon it.
