Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. dropped a boxing bout against Jake Paul last weekend in Anaheim, California. Consequently, the string of bad news does not stop. Now the ex-WBC middleweight titleholder will forfeit his right to live in the US, owing to outstanding arrest warrants! This is in part due to alleged accusations of organized crime, while in Mexico.

On Wednesday, July 2, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Studio City, California. The agency has cited active plans to the media to deport him back to Mexico.

According to the DHS website, Mexican citizen Chavez Jr. has “an active arrest warrant” in Mexico. The outstanding charges surmount to a biggie, with an alleged part in organized crime and trafficking firearms, and/or explosives.

This Sinaloa Cartel affiliate with an active arrest warrant for trafficking guns, ammunition, and explosives was arrested by ICE. Chavez (54-7-1, 34 KOs) has been in the squared circle with some of the best athletes in the world. This includes Canelo Alvarez; he recently lost to Paul despite a content slow-running defense and springing to life in the last two rounds. However, it hasn’t been easy for the boxer; he has been out of rehab quite a few times this past few years and dropped to 6-5 in the last few after a 46-0 start.

In January of last year, 39-year-old Chavez Jr., the son of boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., was caught with illegal possession. Additionally, Chavez Jr.’s legal issues in Mexico are not the only concern for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The DHS has also highlighted that Chavez Jr. has a criminal record in the United States that dates back to 2012. At that time, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and operating a vehicle without a license. While the story is still developing, the matter has already gone quite viral.
