‘Candid’ Travis Kelce’s mother makes emotional admission about staying with husband against her will

The Kelce family is a rare example of a household that birthed and raised two potential Hall of Fame football players. Parents Donna and Ed Kelce raised their sons Travis and Jason Kelce to be elite football players and fine gentlemen. This, by itself, counts as a feat but Donna Kelce‘s latest revelation on the circumstances in which she raised her children makes it all the more respectable.
Speaking at Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year: The Moms Issue, Donna Kelce revealed she and her ex-husband Ed Kelce put their marital woes aside for the sake of Travis and Jason Kelce. Part of their problems arose from Donna’s professional role as a commercial banker. She was an independent woman with a career that kept her on her toes constantly.
I was a commercial banker in several different states. I wanted to get ahead. I worked really, really hard. I was a major breadwinner in the family.

But Donna Kelce never wanted to take a step back as she intended to inspire her children and prove to them that a woman can be a great mother while having a thriving professional career.
I think it’s important for kids to see that a woman can do whatever she wants, but I did stand still, too.

She was the primary breadwinner of the Kelce household and sent a strong message to her sons that she would not allow the pressures that come along with motherhood and marriage to shackle her.

At a point in their marriage, things were just not working out between them. Most couples would have opted to end the marriage and separate to make the most of their lives.
However, the Kelces were smart. They understood the impact a divorce would have on their children. That is why they decided to stay together, on friendly terms, so that their kids’ lives would not be disturbed.
Donna Kelce revealed that she had to be as firm as a rock to ensure a degree of normalcy in the marriage.
My husband and I knew that our marriage was not working, but we stayed together for the kids. Ours was a very friendly relationship. So, we could do that and make sure that their life was normal as possible. But in that one respect, I did stand still for several years until I could move on my own.

Motherhood is nothing short of a challenge, but Donna Kelce had to be there for her sons while ensuring her work does not take a backseat. It is safe to say that Ed and Donna Kelce did a great job in raising their kids.
The eldest, Jason Kelce, retired after having an illustrious career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has proven his excellence in the field and is a role model to the local community. The youngest, Travis Kelce, is thriving as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and with 3 Super Bowls to his name, he is on his way to finishing his career as one of the greatest tight ends of all time.
Fortunately for her, all that hard work has paid off. She is now in a position to enjoy the success of her children and is making time for herself. Alongside her at the Glamour interview were Beyoncé, Solange, Selena Gomez, and Gracie Teefey’s mothers.
