The Orlando Magic were making their first playoff appearance since the days of Aaron Gordon and were dealt a blow as the Cavs showed how it’s been done. Donovan Mitchell led the player statistics chart with a game-high 30 points, two rebounds, and three assists as the Cavs took game one 97-83.

Paolo Banchero, making his debut playoff appearance, was the Magics’ best player of the night as the 2023 NBA Rookie of the Year came up with 24 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. But it was not to be, as the Cavs won game one of the series.

The Cavs are hoping to redeem themselves after an injury-plagued season, and just like their fate last season, they played an inexperienced Magic team that was over-reliant on Paolo Banchero. Next for the Cleveland Cavaliers is another home game against the Magic in round two of the series.
