The Celevand Cavaliers’ star man Donovan Mitchell has been making the headlines lately after attending Michael Rubin‘s 4th of July “White Party.” Mitchell is said to be a big fan of the Marvel movie, “Spiderman” and interestingly also has a nickname called, “Spida.” Notably, as per Mitchell, Spiderman was one of his favorite Marvel movies while growing up.
Not only that, Mitchell was even spotted hanging out with former Spiderman star Tobey Maguire at the White Party, raising questions about his relation to Spiderman and also breaking the Internet. In addition, Mitchell once opened up on his nickname to the NBA’s official media team when he was 19 years old, claiming his dad’s friend gave him the name.

Furthermore, the NBA community went into a frenzy after seeing Spida and Maguire (the lead Spiderman Actor) together on Mitchell’s Instagram story. On the contrary, Mitchell signed a new contract with the Cavs and will be raring to go with his side for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.

Donovan Mitchell has been one of the best players for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA over the years, dropping consistent performances match after match in the league. Notably, there were rumors that Mitchell would be traded to another NBA team which raised a lot of questions from the Cavs fans regarding their star player.
However, all the rumors and questions were put to bed by the Cavs as they went all out on extending Mitchell’s contract. Mitchell and Cleveland have agreed to a new three-year, $150.3 million contract with a player option for the 2027-28 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This is a major bonus for the Cavs, to get their best player on the roster to sign an extension, boosting the morale of all the other players.
Additionally, this 2023-24 NBA season, he averaged 26.6 points, 6.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range, earning his fifth consecutive All-Star selection. It remains to be seen how he will perform in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.
