Looks like the New England Patriots may have found their franchise quarterback in Drake Maye. The fans can already sense the promise of future success.
The Patriots are currently ranked at the bottom of the league at 1-6 as head coach Jerod Mayo had reservations about starting the season with the rookie Maye. Instead, he started the season with quarterback Jacoby Brissett however, that ended with a five-game losing streak. Although the failure continued in week 7 when he finally gave Maye a shot, he certainly made a strong statement with his solid outing.
Fans, who were frustrated by the team and appeared to be losing all hope till last week, are suddenly looking forward to this season. All because of the third overall pick of the 2024 Draft, Maye.
The rookie quarterback opened the week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a touchdown and maintained consistency throughout. Seeing the opening drive, Offensive Coordinator Alex Van Pelt implemented an aggressive strategy and opted for eight passes by Maye to three rushing attempts.

As much as the quarterback wants, he can’t be responsible for the entire team’s plays. That’s why New England settled for a loss at 32-16 against the Jaguars despite the quick and smart decision that actually brought results.
Regardless, the 7-0 lead on the opening drive lit a lamp of hope in the hearts of the fans, especially considering the grave offensive struggle they have been going through in the first five weeks of this season. The Patriots desperately needed a game like this, to have something to hold on to for a better future.
Fans react to Drake Maye’s impressive outing against Jaguars
Fans have gone crazy over the remarkable outing by the North Carolina product, believing it’s the beginning of a new era in New England. Maye, in every way, proved his third-overall pick as he easily got the ball out of his hands and threw some impressive off-schedule passes. By connecting with running back JaMycal Hasty in the opening drive for a 16-yard touchdown, he recorded Hasty’s first TD since the 2022 regular season.
One fan wrote, “Best QB out of North Carolina since Mitch Trubisky haha,” on the X tweet shared by Dov Kleiman highlighting the bright future of the Patriots. Another fan exclaimed, “Drake Mayethe goat.” Here are some of the fan reactions.
