Draymond Green asks Jordan Poole to ‘move on’ from punch incident: “Even apologized to parents”

Draymond Green and Jordan Poole

The Golden State Warriors star man Draymond Green recently opened up on his heated altercation with Jordan Poole back in 2022. Poole, who now plays for the Washington Wizards, was first at the Warriors before moving to the Wizards. Notably, Poole returned to the Chase Center on Saturday, January 18th as an opposition, but received a warm reception from the DubNation.

After the game, Poole said, ‘he loves most of the guys there.’ This led to Green offering his take on the past incident between them. In the latest segment of the Draymond Green Show, he stated that it’s time to move on past the incident that shattered the Warriors’ locker room two years ago. Also, he apologized for hitting his former teammate, Poole.

It’s been three years. Let’s move on. We moved on like we’re supposed to move on, man. I really am sorry. Move on, bro! It is what it is. I’m sorry. Shouldn’t have punched him. … I even apologized to his parents. … I know I was wrong, but you can’t call a man the B word and push him and not get hit either.

A video of Green and Poole arguing during a preseason session in October 2022 went viral. Green approached Poole, who gave him a shove. Poole was then punched by Green. The Warriors star later expressed regret to Poole and his family in public. Green willingly left the team for a while. Also, he was fined by the Warriors. However, he did not miss any games or get any disciplinary action from the league.

In addition, the relationship between the two stars completely broke down after that incident. It was clear that Poole would leave the franchise. In June 2023, Poole was traded to Washington for Chris Paul. This was after they fell in the Western Conference semifinals of the postseason that year.

Draymond Green’s ‘chokehold’ incident with Rudy Gobert changed him as a person

Draymond Green is known for his aggressive nature throughout his NBA career. However, as he is reaching the later stages of his career, Green has tried to be more calm on the court. Last season, Green missed 12 games after receiving a five-game suspension for choking Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert and an indefinite suspension for hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face.

This season, compared to four(ejections) last season, Green has only been ejected once while receiving eight technical fouls. Notably, the Gobert ‘chokehold’ incident made Green a “different” player and person he is this season, per ESPN. He claimed that even though he had a sports psychologist and two therapists, the check-in calls were really beneficial.

Additionally, the change in Green’s behavior has been visible this season. His HC Steve Kerr too made it a point to give Green credit. This was regarding his behavioral change this season. With Green now left sidelined for the Warriors, it remains to be seen when he makes his return back to the roster this season.
