Even though LeBron James is considered the favorite to join either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Philadelphia 76ers, other teams want to keep trying. When it comes to the Golden State Warriors, who better than to send Draymond Green?
After the tumultuous rivalry days between his team and the James-led Cavaliers of the mid-2010s, the two have grown to become as close as to be termed best friends.
Games of golf, partying together in the offseason, and getting together for a chat before and after their battles on the court have given enough proof of how close they are.
That is why, when it was reported that the two were going to get together this offseason, insiders and analysts felt that Draymond Green was going to throw a recruiting pitch to his friend.
I’d be remissed if I don’t take the opportunity to throw my pitch in there. I’d be crazy if we’re together for x amount of days and at no point am I like ‘Yo, we need to chop it up, what the hell going on? What we doing? Of course I did that, and of course the pitch was crazy… But we wasn’t going to hang out for a recruitment pitch.
Draymond Green said on his namesake show
The 36-year-old essentially clarified that he did throw a recruiting pitch. However, he did that after seeing Shams Charania claim that he would when he got together with LeBron James.

Green clarified that the meet-up was not designed to be a recruiting trip. But since he saw what was being talked about, he decided to ask his close friend about it.
Draymond Green does not believe his efforts to recruit LeBron James will work
Draymond Green addressed this with a constant smile on his face. But he then clarified why he does not think his efforts to recruit LeBron James will matter.

Since I think I’m pretty decent at it, doesn’t change anything. Doesn’t make anything happen. With the things I shared in it, I believe it’s definitely going to make the brain work a little bit.

The four-time All-Star believes that his former rival will do what he needs to do. However, his words could at least force James to think about the possibility of joining his friend and another player he admires and loves to play with, Stephen Curry.
The Warriors were labeled as having fallen out of the race to sign the league’s all-time leading scorer, especially after it was revealed that they may not be able to trade for Anthony Davis.
The center was marked as a requirement in a package deal if the two thought of joining the Warriors. But it seems other teams have taken the lead since then, or that was what everyone felt it was.
Warriors’ odds of landing LeBron James spike after Draymond Green pitch
Before Draymond Green and LeBron James hung out, the odds for the Warriors to land the latter were lower than almost every other contender.
Now, though, that has changed. As per betting aggregator Polymarket, the odds for the Bay Area franchise to sign the four-time league MVP have seen a fresh spike.
The odds rose 10% after news of Green and James’ golf outing came to light. On the other hand, the odds for the Cleveland Cavaliers have been dropping.

With teams openly throwing recruiting pitches and players communicating with James via text and voice notes, it could go any direction.
The King has made it clear that he will take his time. Until he does, these odds will keep changing based on any updates that come through.
