Drew McIntyre had the best year of his career in 2024. Many even consider him the superstar of the year, not just in WWE but in the entirety of professional wrestling. Thus, with his stock higher than ever, fans expected WWE to make him one of their biggest superstars heading into 2025 and place him in a huge WrestleMania program. However, it appears that this is not the case.

According to Mail Sport, McIntyre is set for a program with Damian Priest heading into WrestleMania 41. The blowoff has been described as a “nothing match,” likely meaning that it will have no long-term ramifications and will serve no significant storytelling purposes. The Chosen One is reportedly frustrated with this idea and thinks that he deserves a much more prominent feud.

This report has shed some light on McIntyre’s unceremonious elimination by Priest from the Royal Rumble. He was one of the favorites heading into the 30-man match. Even if he were to be eliminated from the match, many expected it to be at the hands of a high-profile name like CM Punk, Seth Rollins, or Roman Reigns.

After all, many thought that the Scottish Warrior would complete his revenge arc against The Bloodline at WrestleMania with a match against the OTC. Thus, the Rumble would have been the perfect way to start building a feud between Drew McIntyre and Reigns. Unfortunately, it appears that this is not how things are going to pan out.

Drew McIntyre’s frustration after the Royal Rumble was allegedly toward LA Knight

The Royal Rumble was clearly not a good PLE for Drew McIntyre. A recent report stated that he was furious after being eliminated and was heard screaming backstage. He even stormed out of the arena before the show was even over. He was reportedly furious at one of his co-stars for “trying to get their moves in,” which came at the cost of the narrative storylines they were trying to tell.

According to Fightful, McIntyre’s frustration was directed toward LA Knight. Apparently, the original plan was for Priest to eliminate the former WWE Champion before The Megastar even made his entrance. However, the former United States Champion got involved in the elimination. Thus, some backstage officials believed that some momentum was lost for their feud heading into WrestleMania.

Several others have also stated that not just McIntyre but many others were also frustrated at someone in the locker room, which could be LA Knight. However, others did not display their frustration as much as the former WCPW Champion did.
