Despite having a stellar 2024, Drew McIntyre is currently involved in a fairly underwhelming feud for WrestleMania 41. All signs point toward him taking on Damian Priest at the biggest show of the year. Despite not being the star-studded matchup that most fans expected from him, the 39-year-old is doing his best to build their feud.
In an interview with Daily Star, McIntyre said that it was frustrating to not be able to be a part of any title match at WrestleMania after his successful 2024. He appreciated the fans for showing their concern when he was put in a feud against Priest, and they said that this was a match that didn’t mean anything. However, he said that they deserved a chance to at least tell their story before it was called off as nothing.
McIntyre said that this feud began over 11 months ago, when Priest cashed in on the Scottish wrestler to become the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania XL. He then talked about the Elimination Chamber, where he had successfully landed a Claymore on John Cena. However, rather than waiting for him to pin the Hollywood superstar first, the Latino superstar decided to eliminate the Chosen One by rolling him up.
[At the] Elimination Chamber, I Claymore Cena. Instead of going ‘I’ll let Drew pin Cena first’, he eliminates me. It’s the only way he knows how to succeed because he is a vulture. A parasite. A big emo vulture.

McIntyre called his rival a parasite and a vulture. Now that the 2020 Royal Rumble winner has got nothing to lose, Damian Priest finally has his attention. If the 42-year-old wanted to keep coming back more, their feud could last all the way till WrestleMania. The former WWE Champion said that his opponent deserved the biggest stage possible to get beaten down.
Drew McIntyre lays out Damian Priest after suffering a major loss on SmackDown
Drew McIntyre was part of a star-studded tag match on the latest episode of SmackDown. He teamed up with Shinsuke Nakamura to take on Damian Priest and Jimmy Uso. The fighting began much before the bell rang. The Latino superstar put his hands on the Scottish Psychopath during the latter’s entrance.

Toward the end of the match, Uso laid out Nakamura and tagged in his partner. Priest came in and landed a South of Heaven chokeslam on the Japanese superstar. This allowed him to pick up the pinfall victory for his team. However, he didn’t have much time to celebrate. McIntyre attacked him after the match and laid him out with a Claymore.
Fans got to witness something similar two weeks ago on the blue brand. McIntyre laid Priest out and told him that the latter had taken everything away from him after eliminating him from both the rumble and the chamber. Now, he had nothing in his life other than to making the Puerto Rican’s life miserable.
Drew McIntyre speaks about his relationship with The Rock
The Rock has publicly stated his appreciation for Drew McIntyre and praised him on several occasions. The two are said to be very close and are often seen hanging out backstage having hilarious interactions. The Final Boss also personally broke the news of the 39-year-old re-signing with the company last year. During the same interview with The Daily Star, he elaborated on his relationship with the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment.

McIntyre mentioned how a lot of people called him a hypocrite for hating The Bloodline yet being so close with The Rock. He clarified that he did not have a problem with the faction as a whole but only the people who had wronged him. In fact, the People’s Champion had looked out for him ever since he was a kid.
You know, he’d sent the sword, sent me some really nice words that I’ll never reveal to the world. We got a chance to catch up at the Chamber. We had a really good talk and there are some things on the horizon, some big things in the world. We’ll see when it’s time.
Drew McIntyre speaking with Daily Star
McIntyre said that The Brahma Bull had always said positive things about him. He even put him over and called him the next biggest superstar even when the 2024 Money in the Bank winner wasn’t doing anything major on TV. He also teased some upcoming projects alongside The Great One that he could not reveal at the moment.
