WWE SmackDown 10/4: Drew McIntyre Handcuffs Jacob Fatu in a Vicious Ambush Days Before WrestleMania 42
Drew McIntyre launched a ruthless attack on his WrestleMania opponent during this week's SmackDown.

This week’s SmackDown added yet another violent chapter in the ongoing rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu. Having promised to expose the real Jacob Fatu this Friday, McIntyre decided to blindside the ‘Samoan Werewolf’ after he had just put away Tama Tonga in a singles match. The Scot stomped Fatu several times in the corner only for the latter to superkick McIntyre in response.
The Ayr-born wrestler answered with a Claymore kick to down the 33-year-old. After dumping Fatu at ringside, McIntyre sent him head-first into the steel steps. ‘The Chosen One’ also cracked a brutal chair shot on Fatu’s back. McIntyre put handcuffs around Fatu’s left arm and drove him into the LED ring post.
‘The Scottish Warrior’ tangled the former US Champion around the ring ropes with the handcuffs. It rendered him ineffective, allowing McIntyre to kick Fatu right on the side of his face. But that wasn’t it. The former 3MB member used his belt to inflict even more damage to a languid and battered Fatu despite the WWE officials trying their best to diffuse the situation.
The two of them fell off a scaffold three weeks ago after having brawled at various junctures on that SmackDown. It was after such an unbridled assault only that made the SmackDown GM Nick Aldis put McIntyre and Fatu in an unsanctioned match at WrestleMania this coming Saturday. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions for Drew McIntyre since the start of 2026.
He finally captured the WWE title, beating Cody Rhodes with the inadvertent help of Jacob Fatu. ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ lost the gold on SmackDown after the Elimination Chamber, that too, due to Fatu’s interference. The latter cost McIntyre the opportunity of a lifetime to walk into WrestleMania as the world champion, for which the Scot is hellbent on making the California native pay.
Jade Cargill beat Iyo Sky in the main event of SmackDown
This past Monday night on Raw, Jade Cargill brutalized Iyo Sky with a kendo stick, with Rhea Ripley being held back by Michin and B-Fab to watch it. The current WWE women’s champion had identified Ripley’s Achilles’ heel and struck her WrestleMania opponent right where it’d hurt her the most, and that’s Ripley’s best friend, Sky. In the main event of this week’s SmackDown, Sky went one-on-one with Cargill in a non-title match.

‘The Genius of the Sky’ suffered a rare pinfall loss at the hands of ‘The Storm’. Cargill brought out a steel chair after the match to avenge Ripley beating up her aides backstage. ‘Mami’, however, was quick to interrupt Cargill and prevented any sort of a post-match beatdown on Sky. Ripley didn’t attack the champ either, as she was more concerned about Iyo’s well-being.
Cargill couldn’t help but smile and survey the agony on The Eradicator’s face while sitting on that steel chair outside the ring. Ripley and Cargill are confirmed to be wrestling on the second night of WrestleMania. While the fans could expect this match to be very physical, it has majorly lacked a compelling build-up.
The integration of Iyo Sky in the mix has imperiled her chances of competing in an actual match at WrestleMania. Sky was building towards a showdown with Asuka and had even hoped to see the ‘Empress of Tomorrow’ in Las Vegas.
But WWE still hasn’t made it official. The fans are anxious about Sky not making the cut for Mania, which would be a shame considering she was the defending champion at the Show of Shows last year.
