Drew McIntyre will be looking to make history this Saturday. He has a big match going head-to-head against Damian Priest for the coveted World Heavyweight Championship. Before his showdown, the Scottish Warrior took some time to reflect on the tenth anniversary of his WWE release.
The 39-year-old star said that ten years ago, he was fired from WWE. He pointed out that he didn’t have any recognition back then. However, he called it the “best thing that happened” to him. McIntyre went on to say that it led him on a journey to reinvent himself outside of WWE. He stated that he performed, grew as a person, and eventually became the headliner for Clash at the Castle in his home country.

In 2014, Drew McIntyre, along with a bunch of superstars, was released by WWE. The Scottish Warrior then went on to work on himself and make a name for himself on the indies. He returned to WWE in 2017 and then went on to capture multiple world titles. This weekend, he is going to battle for the world title in front of his home crowd.
Over the past few months, the former WWE Champion has become a mainstay for Monday Night Raw. He has been involved in a rugged feud with CM Punk, which can play a major role in his match against Damian Priest. Recently, McIntyre also revealed the worst moment of his life, which transpired at Clash at the Castle in 2022. Therefore, he’ll be looking to redeem himself by finally winning the world title in front of his home crowd.
Drew McIntyre revealed he has terrible past with CM Punk
Drew McIntyre has been taking shots at CM Punk for months now. It has become one of the most prominent aspects of WWE, but it is pretty unclear why the Scottish Warrior hates the Best in the World so much. Having said that, the 39-year-old spoke candidly about his animosity in a recent interview while promoting Clash at the Castle.

Speaking with Indian Express, the former WWE Champion revealed that he has a terrible past with the Second City Saint. He went on to say that the Straight Edge Superstar has hurt him both personally and professionally since he was younger. McIntyre assured that he might disclose the details down the line in the course of the next few months.
I can't stand him, we have history that people just do not know about yet. Maybe I'll go into detail down the line but he hurt me when I was younger personally and professionally. He's a genuine terrible person. If you just take five minutes to do the research online, you'll see that he has always been a terrible person.Drew McIntyre via Indian Express
The Scottish-born wrestler also expressed his hatred for the Money in the Bank briefcase. He referred to the stipulation as “stupid,” as the briefcase has been the reason for him losing the world title twice in his career. However, McIntyre looks confident this time, marching towards Clash at the Castle, as there is no MITB holder in WWE currently.
