Dricus Du Plessis recently defeated Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. The highly anticipated event saw a footfall of thousands of people in the RAC Arena in Australia. The South African champion had a couple of things to say about the event, especially the highly energetic Australian fans in Perth. Here is what happened:
After defeating two-time middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, Dricus Du Plessis did an interview with Kayo Sports. He praised the atmosphere and crowd noise at UFC 305. The middleweight champion noted that it was the loudest he had ever experienced.

Du Plessis mentioned that hearing the crowd cheer for Israel Adesanya when he was introduced gave him goosebumps. The South African mentioned hoping that they do not boo him just as hard. The RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, where UFC 305 was held has a seating capacity of up to 16,500. As per reports, UFC 305 had an attendance of 14,152 fans.
Dricus Du Plessis successfully defended his middleweight title by submitting Israel Adesanya in the fourth round. After a competitive first three rounds, Du Plessis dropped Adesanya with a series of precise right hands in the fourth. He then took Adesanya’s back and secured a rear-naked choke, forcing him to tap out.
Dricus Du Plessis claps back at Steve Erceg’s comments after knockout loss at UFC 305
Steve Erceg had made comments leading up to UFC 305 where he downplayed Dricus Du Plessis’ abilities. Erceg suggested that while Du Plessis was a good competitor, he did not see him as exceptional or among the best in the division, rating the South African as a “6 out of 10 fighter”.
This came before Erceg had his own fight against Kai Kara-France, who knocked out “Astroboy” in the first round. It became a classic example of how trash-talking often backfires, and underestimating others can lead to humbling results.
After UFC 305, Dricus Du Plessis reacted to Steve Erceg’s earlier remarks. He posted a picture of Erceg getting knocked out on his Instagram story, tagging the Australian fighter. It will be interesting to see if Erceg can recover from this public humiliation, given that he has now lost two fights in a row of the five under his belt.
