Dricus Du Plessis recently commented on Sean Strickland‘s fighting style. The South African champion labeled it as the “kryptonite” for Israel Adesanya. He praised Strickland’s approach, suggesting that it effectively neutralizes Adesanya’s strengths. Here is what happened:

Dricus Du Plessis recently sat down for a conversation on New York Post Sports. During their discussion on the South African’s upcoming title defense, the champion commented on what he believes was the kryptonite for the two-time middleweight champion.

I started thinking that Adesanya wasn’t off that night, it was Strickland who just completely shut down Izzy’s game and he enforced his game, and that style that Strickland fights was the kryptonite for a guy like Adesanya.

Du Plessis believes that Adesanya’s style struggles against Strickland’s pressure and unpredictability. Strickland became the middleweight champion in his first title shot when he beat Adesanya at UFC 293. Du Plessis went on to controversially defeat Strickland to become the UFC middleweight champion at UFC 297.

This insight has added to the anticipation surrounding Du Plessis’ upcoming title defense against Adesanya. They will fight a few days from now at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia headlining UFC 305.

Brendan Schaub predicts how Israel Adesanya’s career will end

Brendan Schaub recently did another episode of ‘The Fighter and The Kid’. There the former UFC fighter predicted that Israel Adesanya’s career could end with a trilogy fight against Alex Pereira. However, this time they would clash in the light heavyweight division.

Schaub believes Adesanya will first defeat Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305, followed by a rematch against Sean Strickland. He predicted ‘The Last Stylebender’ to win that fight too. The potential Pereira trilogy at light heavyweight, according to Schaub, would be Adesanya’s final fight and could solidify his legacy as the greatest middleweight of all time.

The rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira spans across kickboxing and MMA. It began in 2016 when they first faced each other in a kickboxing match. Adesanya was left with a 0-2 record against Pereira in kickboxing. He transitioned to MMA and Poatan followed him into the UFC. Their most recent bout was at UFC 287 last year where Adesanya finally got his revenge, knocking Pereira out and reclaiming the UFC middleweight title.
