The current UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, is well known for his unique trash-talking abilities. The South African fighter doesn’t shy from giving befitting replies to his potential opponents over online statements. Recently, the UFC champion did the same against the welterweight king Belal Muhammad.
Muhammad recently announced that he doesn’t want to interfere in Islam Makhachev‘s path of becoming a double champion. In order to avoid that, he wants to move up and fight the likes of Du Plessis, Sean Strickland, etc. However, the middleweight king recently made fun of this proposal, and with a strong reason.
I like how he acts like he has a chance to go up to 185, the UFC will never let him. If he wants to do that, he would have to abandon his belt, give up his belt, vacate and then go up to 185 and there’s no way they give him an immediate title shot. There’s no way! The UFC doesn’t even like Belal Muhammad.…he hasn’t even defended his belt once.

DDP expressed that the welterweight champion has more entertaining tweets than fights. He also mentioned that Muhammad is too small for a welterweight and won’t be able to hang with top middleweights. Something similar was also mentioned by rising welterweight Joaquin Buckley in a recent video.

The former middleweight fighter suggested Muhammad to stay away from the 185 lbs fighters as their strength difference is massive. ‘Remember The Name’, however, believes that his wrestling will be enough to beat someone like Du Plessis. As of now, the Palestinian champion is hungry for competition.
Belal Muhammad wants to be the greatest welterweight of all time
Belal Muhammad has had an extremely motivating journey in the UFC. Overcoming setbacks, he built an impressive unbeaten streak, proving himself against top contenders with relentless pressure. After years of being overlooked, his dominant wins secured a long-awaited title shot against the division’s reigning champion.

Muhammad destroyed Leon Edwards to become the champion and shut down a lot of his haters. However, the Palestinian-American fighter has always faced criticism for his lack of finishes throughout his career. In a recent interview, he talked about changing the perspective around him.
I wanna fight the best guys. I wanna prove that I’m the best. You’ll have champions that will look for the easiest payday….I wanna keep proving these people wrong and keep winning.

Muhammad is currently expected to defend his welterweight title against top candidates like Shavkat Rakhmonov. Many fans and experts are favoring the Kazakh fighter to beat Muhammad. However, this might be the exact chance for the champion to show his mettle.
