Former World No.1 Dustin Johnson has reportedly committed his future to LIV Golf. As per reports, the 2-time major champion has re-signed with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) backed league and will continue to play for them.
Johnson joined LIV Golf on a reported $125 million deal. He was one of the high-profile names, alongside Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, and Bryson DeChambeau, to leave the PGA Tour on a big-money deal and join them.
The 2020 Masters Champion would have immediate success on the 54-hole circuit as he was crowned the 2022 individual champion. His team, 4Aces GC would go on to claim the team championship in the inaugural season.
Since then, DJ has notched up some wins on the Saudi-backed tour. His performances in the major championships, though, have been concerning. He missed the cut at the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship, and the U.S. Open this year before finishing T23 at the Open Championship.
This year, he was in the final year of his deal with LIV Golf. Given his poor form in the major championships, there were some speculations that he might not re-sign with LIV Golf and return to the PGA Tour.
However, that does not appear to be the case now. As per reports from FlushingIt, Johnson has re-signed with the league. The 41-year-old reportedly met with officials in New York and agreed to renew his contract and continue to play on LIV Golf.

Social media reacts to Dustin Johnson reportedly re-signing with LIV Golf
Earlier this year, there had been several speculations and rumors regarding some of the top stars of LIV Golf leaving them after running down their contracts. Dustin Johnson was one of them whose name was thrown in this. The golfer has seemingly ended this speculation with a new deal.

The reports of him signing a new deal did not sit well with the fans on social media. Several users on X attacked him. One user wrote, “HOF career ruined” while making their feelings known. Check out that and some other reactions from X below:
Has been. Can’t hang with the big boys on The PGA Tour. Don’t blame him, take the money and chill, but HOF career ruined!!!

Translation: DJ will remain retired.

He no longer has the game to compete on the PGA Tour.
— 💪🏻Greg🇺🇸 (@greg73017) October 26, 2025
He knows hey can’t play in the PGA any more so why not take the check and run!
— Robert Albert (@waivers13) October 26, 2025
In top class competition DJ is no longer the force he was. Traded his reputation and legacy for money.
— Paul (@Paul_Belfast1) October 26, 2025
Resigned to play the rest of his career settling for pay cheques in exhibition golf.
How very sad.
He’s an absolute trash can now. I’d take the free money too.

No choice. PGATour isn’t allowing any of these guys back ever. Brooks, Bryson, Rahm – they need LIV because there’s no path back.
— Zaggy (@zagnut) October 26, 2025
A guy that looked like a chance at top 10-15 all time 6 years ago but that wouldve been a lot of work. Now will not be qualifying for any majors except the Masters by the age of 42…

That is great. It’s not like he had another option.
— Blackadder II (@Blackadder04181) October 26, 2025
Bet he didn’t resign for close to what he first signed for.
He’s probably playing for minimum wage as bad as he is.
— bigwick (@GWeichers) October 26, 2025
So he’s staying retired?

This year, Johnson finished 14th in the LIV Golf Individual standings with 5 Top-10 finishes in 13 events. His best performance was a 3rd place finish in the final Indianapolis event.
Dustin Johnson recently expressed his desire to be part of 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup team
Dustin Johnson was once again not a part of Team USA at the Ryder Cup. Following his country’s 15-13 defeat against Team Europe at the Bethpage Course in New York in September, the 4Aces GC captain expressed his desire to be part of the team in 2027.

Due to his ties with LIV Golf, Johnson had few opportunities to collect the Ryder Cup points. His poor performances in the major championships finish 105th in the American Ryder Cup rankings with just 356 points.
Captain Keegan Bradley would not pick him as a captain’ pick. This meant that the golfer had missed the chance of playing in the Ryder Cup for a second straight year. In his last appearance in 2021, he went 5-0-0 as his team claimed an emphatic 19-9 win.
At the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, the golfer expressed his desire to be part of his national team once again and represent them at Adare Manor in 2027.
I’d love to. I wanted to be there (Bethpage). I just need to play a bit better and I can be there for Adare. I finally feel like I have my game coming back into form. I’ve got a lot more confidence in it and I am starting to swing it well again.
Dustin Johnson told the reporters

He would go on to finish T71 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He was last seen at the International Series in the Philippines where he finished in a four-way tie for 15th with a 13-under par score.
