Lightweight legend Dustin Poirier is determined to face a legendary opponent for his final UFC fight before retirement. Nate Diaz, however, believes Poirier is overhyped, and has suggested an alternative opponent for him. As the debate heats up, rising star Paddy Pimblett seems to have much interest in the fight.
Pimblett is eager to climb the lightweight rankings as soon as possible, and called out Poirier a few days back. DP, however, rejected the call-out citing that he only wants to fight a UFC legend, not any new blood. Nate Diaz took this opportunity to mock the former title contender, and asked him to fight Pimblett. According to the Stockton native, the Brit is better than ‘Diamond.’
Paddy Pimblett was hyped after Diaz’s endorsement, using it to further mock Poirier and challenge his credibility. He criticized Poirier’s hypocrisy for accepting a fight against Benoit Saint-Denis while refusing to face him inside the Octagon. Despite Pimblett’s star power and ability to sell tickets, he doesn’t fully align with DP’s ideal choice of opponent in the division.
Nate Diaz calls Dustin Poirier a 'p*ssy' for not wanting to fight Paddy Pimblett for his retirement fight, and Paddy seems to agree:

Poirier’s last fight was a UFC lightweight title against Islam Makhachev, which he lost via submission. However, he was able to put on an incredible performance which proved that the legend can definitely hang with young fighters. Going forward, the ‘Diamond’ does have few rivalries to settle, and this has kept fight fans on their toes.

No, of course not. We will fight to the death if I see him…I don’t respect him as a man.
