It seems like Dwayne Johnson is locked in like no one else to ensure Mark Kerr‘s biopic, The Smashing Machine, on A24 is a hit. Recently, the 52-year-old’s first look from the movie was revealed. As depicted in the picture, a transmogrified Johnson could be seen sitting in the corner in the midst of his fight. And believe it or not, The Great One has nailed that look of Kerr, though prosthetics has had its fair share.

Benny Safdie is directing the film, which is currently in the production phase. Last time it was reported, the shoot was expected to finish by the onset of August. As of now, there’s no release date set in stone. Also in the movie is Johnson’s longtime co-actress, Emily Blunt, who plays Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples. For what it’s worth, Smashing Machine is the Black Adam star’s first major project since capping off an extended WWE run earlier this year.

To start off 2024 with a bang, Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, was named among the members of TKO’s Board of Directors. He later plotted a return to WWE to finally battle his cousin, Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania XL. However, after a severe fan backlash, Dwayne’s camp was reduced to shambles as they had to pivot back to the then-fan favorite, Cody Rhodes, to instead finish his story with The Tribal Chief.

In hindsight, it was undoubtedly the best decision. Even if not against Reigns, The People’s Champ got to wrestle in his first WWE match in eight years. On night 1 of the pop-culture extravaganza in Philadelphia, the wrestler-turned-actor joined forces with Roman Reigns to outwit Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

Some of the following responses are quite amusing. A fan noted how the WWE icon is looking as if he’s some Chris Evans yoked out on roids. A few of them noted that Johnson is out there to beat the allegations of Dave Bautista being a better actor than him.

Another one said that he’s actually surprised by the fact that Dwayne agreed to put on a wig, which he didn’t bother to do while doing Black Adam. An argument was also made about the heavily incorporated CGI effects on The Rock’s face, which made him look like Matthew McConaughey, said a fan.
