The Philadelphia Eagles will have the chance to end their remarkable season on a high note in one week. Super Bowl 59 will be the ultimate test for a team that has boasted of having the best offense in the NFL. Philly’s offense is stacked with talent and it is the nightmare of a defensive coordinator.
Despite the Eagles’ success, quarterback Jalen Hurts is being subject to criticism. This is because Hurts has been inconsistent during the season and without him, the offense takes a big step back. However, his teammate C.J. Gardner-Johnson gave a fitting response to Hurts’ critics.
The safety does not understand the hate the quarterback gets. Gardner-Johnson responded after being asked if he had a message to give the doubters of Nick Sirianni, A.J. Brown, and Jalen Hurts. The safety is glad to be on the same team as them because it is hard not to admire their style of play.
“I can’t go out there and criticize somebody who overcomes everything every week.

One week ‘he’s a running quarterback’…next week ‘he’s complaining’…next week ‘oh they won another game.’”

Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni have silenced the critics doubting their chemistry
It is interesting to see the attitude shift within the Eagles locker room. Last year, the team got off to a hot start. However, after Week 10, Philadelphia derailed, and the Eagles began to display concerning patterns and commit minor errors that they had not done early on in the year. Reports of a rift between Jalen Hurts and HC Nick Sirianni gained traction.
To make matters worse, news surfaced that A.J. Brown too was frustrated and let his anger out in the locker room. It seemed as though the Eagles franchise was disintegrating and on the verge of blowing up. That was until the Saquon Barkley trade happened. Undoubtedly, Nick Sirianni, Jalen Hurts, and A.J. Brown must have had discussions of the events that transpired in the off-season because they are locked in and working together.
Jalen Hurts is subjected to a lot of flak. It is unfortunate because this season, he is being criticized for merely handing the ball off to Saquon Barkley. If not for the quarterback, Philly does not get here. Without Hurts, Barkley does not have a historic season as well. The quarterback’s improvement as an athlete and a leader must be recognized and as C.J. Gardner-Johnson rightfully said, it is about time he gets his flowers.
