East Bengal to be part of the Indian Super League
Indian Super League has confirmed that East Bengal will be part of their 2020/21 campaign. ISL organisers, Football Sports Development Limited announced this new on Sunday look to start preparations for getting them inducted.

Mohun Bagan merged with Atletico de Kolkata to make it ATK Mohun Bagan. East Bengal saw this as their rivals stepping up in the ladder and knew they had to join the ISL as well.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced earlier that Shree Cement Limited has invested in the Red and Golds which have seen them reach the top division. She said, “Now the problem is solved. East Bengal will play in the ISL.”
As soon as the news was announced, FSDL started the bid process issuing the necessary documents. The Request for Proposal (RFP) was picked up by East Bengal under the aegis of ‘Shree Cement East Bengal Foundation’. Ernst & Young are the designated law firm in charge of drawing up and handling the process.
The seventh-edition of the ISL is set to be held as a single-venue event in Goa due to the global pandemic. East Bengal is in their 100th year and could not have it better other than joining the ISL. Prime Minister Narendra Modi even congratulated East Bengal.
The Kolkata derby between ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal hence, without doubt, will be the new marquee fixture of the competition. This will truly bring their rivalry to a new level with many fans wanting to experience the spectacle. However, the fans will have to wait with the first half of the season being kicked off behind close doors.
