The wrestling world lost the irreplaceable Eddie Guerrero twenty years ago. One would imagine that it wouldn’t hurt so much with the tragedy turning two decades old. However, it has only gotten tougher to cope with the fact that Guerrero left in 2005. In a love letter to his late friend-cum-brother, Rey Mysterio penned a note titled “Dear Eddie” on The Players’ Tribune.
In an excerpt from the Tribune, the ‘Master of 619’ gave one major reason for which he wishes Eddie would be alive. And that’s Dominik Mysterio. ‘The Biggest Little Man in WWE’ wished for the deceased wrestler to have seen Dom’s career taking flight with his own eyes. Papa Mysterio told Eddie that the Judgment Day member wasn’t quite resonating with the fans being a babyface.
Now it’s 20 years later, and I wish so bad that you could be here to see Dom’s own wrestling career take flight… Dominik wasn’t fully clicking as ‘Rey Mysterio’s baby boy’……… so he did what I’m 100% sure you would’ve told him to do. He turned heel, and basically became ‘Eddie Guerrero’s demon boy.’

In a course correction that has done wonders for the 28-year-old, he turned heel, and that’s something Rey believed Eddie would’ve surely asked ‘Dom’ to do if he were alive. The former LWO leader dubbed his son’s current version as “Eddie Guerrero’s demon boy”.
Mysterio then stated several traits that ‘Dom’ possesses, which would’ve made the ‘Latino Heat’ feel mighty proud about the reigning AAA Mega Champion. Rey said that the wrestler his rebellious son has turned into is a love letter to almost everything that Eddie made famous.
‘The Ultimate Underdog’ pointed out with absolutely no offense the sleazy stache, the terrible mullet, the ugly jewelry, and the clothes of ‘Dom’. Oh wait! Mysterio thought he would be remiss if he hadn’t talked about the Raw star’s “sh*t-eating grin.” But on top of all that Rey mentioned, the one quality that trumps everything is the fact that the worse he behaves, the more he’s cheered these days.
It’s hard to believe that the ‘Master of 619’ would’ve been able to keep a straight face while hilariously trolling his son’s on-screen shtick, but also taking immense pride as a father seeing his son become the phenomenon he is today.
The Judgment Day member recently lost the Intercontinental Championship to John Cena on Raw this past Monday. It ended Mysterio’s 204-day run with the prestigious mid-card title belt.
Eddie Guerrero’s daughter remembers her great father with a special picture
The wrestling fans so often tend to believe that Dominik Mysterio is more of a Guerrero than a Mysterio. While that is a playful ode to Dom’s deep-rooted relationship with “Uncle Eddie,” the ‘Latino Heat’ always pampered the 28-year-old as his own son back in the day.
Who would ever forget that storyline where 8-year-old Dominik was put on national television to accentuate the storyline that saw a tussle between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero fighting over the rights of calling themselves Dom’s father?

Even though Dom was no less than a son to Eddie, the latter also has three daughters who could proudly boast about their legendary dad. Speaking of which, Guerrero’s youngest daughter, Kaylie, has also reacted to her father’s 20th death anniversary. Taking to X, she posted a heartwarming picture of herself in Eddie’s lap, which was taken during her first nail salon visit.
This day never gets easier, even after all of these years… When I miss you, I try and think of all the happy moments we had together… ❤️🙏🏼🇲🇽

She revealed how difficult it is, even after so many years of Guerrero’s passing, to wrap her head around it. Kaylie added that she tries to remember all those happy moments she had with her dad whenever she misses him to the core. Circling back to Dominik Mysterio, he did an incredibly wholesome thing earlier this year.
Months after winning the Intercontinental Championship, the ‘King of the Luchadores’ took the title to bestow it upon Eddie Guerrero’s grave, where he’s buried in Phoenix, Arizona. That post from Mysterio has almost 216,000 likes on X and will go down as one of the most heartfelt ones ever.
