British heavyweight boxing giant Tyson Fury is undoubtedly one of the standout personalities in the sport. Over the years, he has created some of the most memorable moments in boxing history through his impressive skills in the ring. However, recent news has stirred controversy within the community, drawing reactions from several prominent figures, including Eddie Hearn.

‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury recently announced his retirement from professional boxing. This news has generated significant attention. Eddie Hearn, the CEO of Matchroom Boxing, shared his thoughts on Fury’s retirement in an exclusive interview with Fight Hub TV. While expressing his best wishes for Fury, Hearn also reflected on the boxer’s previous announcements regarding retirement.

Is it for real? I mean the boy that cried wolf, has done it about six times but he’s coming off two defeats, back to back. So, if he’s love is gone for the game, if he’s at a fight, punched out a bit, it’s probably a good time to retire. I wish him all the best.

Over the years, Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing multiple times. Interestingly, this most recent announcement marks his retirement for the fifth time. Fury first retired back in November 2013, but he returned to the ring after just a few months.

This pattern continued until 2022 when he declared his retirement for the last time after defeating Dillian Whyte in London. However, he made a comeback a few months later. With Fury announcing his retirement again, Hearn remains uncertain about the legitimacy of the recent announcement of the Gypsy King.

Hearn also believes that Fury’s last two defeats against Oleksandr Usyk may have diminished the Gypsy King’s passion for the sport. If that is the case, the Matchroom boss wishes the British heavyweight good luck in his future endeavors. However, Fury’s announcement has also raised concerns for Hearn regarding another aspect of the boxing world. It will interesting to see what Hearn thinks about that particular issue.

Eddie Hearn names Anthony Joshua’s list of potential opponents after Tyson Fury’s retirement

After Tyson Fury’s defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch, discussions arose about a possible fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua. Notably, Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom boss, along with many others, expressed interest in this potential matchup. They believed it could become one of the biggest fights in the history of British boxing.

Fury’s retirement from boxing has disrupted the plans of Hearn and Joshua. This raises the question of who will be Joshua’s next opponent. In an exclusive interview with Seconds Out, promoter Eddie Hearn shared his thoughts on the matter. During the interview, he also provided a list of potential opponents for Joshua’s next fight.

We are going to fight again whatever. It’s not like ‘Oh if Fury doesn’t fight us and we don’t get Dubois, we are retiring’. AJ wants to fight and he’s still in love with the sport. I’m just telling you names now, whether they are a possibility I have no idea. Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, Martin Bakole, [winner of] Dubois vs Parker, [winner of] Zhilei Zhang against Agit Kabayel.

Some of the potential opponents for Anthony Joshua, as mentioned by promoter Eddie Hearn, are scheduled to fight on the upcoming Riyadh Season card on February 22, 2025. Joshua is coming off a recent defeat against Daniel Dubois, which raises questions about his ability to regain his form in the heavyweight boxing division. It remains to be seen whether he can make a successful comeback.
