Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have already arrived in Turin, where the ATP Finals will be held from November 9. This season, except for the Paris Masters, Alcaraz and Sinner clashed in the final since the Italian Open whenever they’re in the same draw.
The only win that Sinner clinched from the Spaniard was at Wimbledon, losing in the finals of the Italian Open, French Open, Cincinnati Masters, and the US Open. In the New York Major, the Spaniard did not have to fight hard the way he did in the Roland Garros final, winning it in four sets.
Watching them from the stands of Arthur Ashe Stadium was Hollywood actress Elle Fanning, who has starred in movies such as Maleficent and 20th Century Women, among others. While promoting her latest movie, Predator: Badlands, Fanning was asked to pick her favorite between Alcaraz and Sinner.
Oh, I mean, hey, he’s a fighter, I have to say. I love Alcaraz. I love Sinner too. I, like, watching them face off, I was so excited. I’m a huge tennis fan. But gosh, yeah, Alcaraz really delivered in that final. He did a really good job. He could take on the Predator. His serve, the speed of the ball, I mean, I’d like to see the Predator play tennis. That would be interesting.
His second US Open title helped the Spaniard reclaim his No.1 ranking and take a 10-5 head-to-head lead over the four-time Grand Slam champion. Sinner took his revenge in the final of the unofficial Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Riyadh.

After winning back-to-back titles at the Vienna Open and the Shanghai Masters finals, Sinner returned to the top spot but is in second position in the live rankings. Sinner has to defend 1,500 points to end the season as the year-end No.1 player by winning the ATP Finals.
Sam Querrey makes Carlos Alcaraz ATP Finals prediction
Toward the end of last year, Sam Querrey predicted that Carlos Alcaraz would end the 2025 season as a No.5 player because the World No.2 dealt with ups and downs following his defeat to Novak Djokovic in the Paris Olympics final. He suffered a second-round exit at the US Open, while at the ATP Finals, the six-time Grand Slam champion failed to go past the round-robin stage. Querrey had accepted that he made a huge mistake in an episode of the Nothing Major podcast because of Alcaraz’s performance this year.

Alcaraz was one of the favorites at the Paris Masters this year, but to his complete disappointment, he ended up losing his opening-round match to Britain’s Cameron Norrie. Based on the Paris Masters as well as his indoor hardcourt performances, Querrey, said he would not be making the same mistake by predicting that Alcaraz would fail to advance beyond the round-robin stage in the upcoming Turin event.
I’m not either, and I don’t want to be that guy that says, ‘Oh, Alcaraz is not going to finish top five’ like I did last year. I’m not sold that it’s a guarantee that he gets out of group stage.
The 22-year-old has clinched the most titles on the men’s tour this season- eight from 10 finals, including the French Open and the US Open, as well as three Masters 1000s (in Monte Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati). The last title the reigning French Open champion lifted was at the Japan Open, by beating Taylor Fritz.
Alcaraz is a semifinalist at the ATP Finals, reaching the last four in 2023. He lost the match to eventual champion Djokovic, whose participation in the event this year is uncertain.
