Emma Raducanu is searching for her seventh coach after parting ways with Nick Cavaday following her 2025 Australian Open exit. However, Raducanu’s compatriot, Laura Robson, has advised her to not be hasty in finding her next coach.

The 22-year-old Brit is searching for her first title since her historic run at the 2021 US Open. But along with the WTA trophy, she also is trying to find a coach with whom she can have a long-term partnership.

Raducanu has worked with Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov and Sebastian Sachs, before ending her collaboration with childhood coach Cavaday as the British coach wanted to prioritize his health. Robson is convinced that if Raducanu fires another coach, then critics would go all out to censure her decisions.

I don’t think she’s going to rush into it. It’s got to be the right person because if she goes for someone and ends up changing it quickly everyone will go nuts again.

Raducanu is in Abu Dhabi and is scheduled to meet 2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in the first round on Tuesday (February 4). Before this, the youngster suffered a third-round and first-round defeat at the Australian Open and the Singapore Open, respectively.

Laura Robson predicts Emma Raducanu won’t skip 2025 French Open

Emma Raducanu skipped the French Open last year upon being denied the wild card. She wanted to prepare for the grass swing and her decision to not play at Roland Garros helped her, for she made it to the Nottingham Open semifinals and the Eastbourne International quarterfinals, before advancing to the fourth round at Wimbledon. Laura Robson thinks this year, Raducanu could play a full schedule.

Clay is great for developing all areas of your game. [Especially] for tactical things and learning how to turn around matches in slower conditions. Ideally, you want the best of both worlds, playing well on clay and then grass. We’ll see what she decides- but I’m sure she wants to play a full schedule.

Laura Robson told Metro

The French Open was one of the several tournaments Raducanu skipped last year as she participated in just 14 events overall. She vowed not to skip tournaments after her heartbreaking first-round exit at the US Open, following which she signed up for several events on the Asian swing, but she could play just the Korea Open.

During the WTA 500 event in Seoul, Raducanu moved into the quarterfinals, but after the first set against Daria Kasatkina, she retired due to a foot injury. She then went on to withdraw from the rest of the Asian tournaments before making her comeback at the Billie Jean King Cup.
