Since the Forbes list of highest-paid athletes in the world, Lamar Jackson has been showered with glory but he came under the spotlight after the stellar 2023 season. Even though the Baltimore Ravens couldn’t reach the Super Bowl, their star quarterback was rewarded with his second consecutive NFL MVP honor.

Jackson is also the youngest quarterback in the history of the NFL to win two ‘Most Valuable Player’ honors consecutively, at the age of 27. However, there appears something missing from the list of his accomplishments– a Super Bowl ring. Despite dominating the AFC for most of the season, Jackson failed to outperform the Kansas City Chiefs, which got the Ravens eliminated and the Super Bowl dream crushed.

While talking on the subject during the recent episode of FS1’s Speak, the former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho emphasized the ‘desperate’ need for Jackson to win a Super Bowl ring in order to validate the two MVP awards he won.

I try to be objective with Lamar Jackson. He has to win a Super Bowl. When you think about the quarterbacks that have two MVPs in the history of the National Football League, I believe there are 10 of them two or more, of 10 of them, I believe seven of them are already in the Hall of Fame or going into the Hall of Fame.

In terms of the MVP count, Acho considered Jackson among Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Patrick Mahomes and called him a ‘Hall of Famer.’

Lamar Jackson’s Super Bowl chase critical for Hall of Fame legacy

However, the former Philadelphia Eagles star linebacker also highlighted that when compared to the other Hall of Famers, the Ravens QB Jackson has never been to the Super Bowl.

I would suggest to say, you ain’t been close. I get you in the AFC championship game but family, if you really watched that game...I went back and looked at it this morning, they never held a league. You were one game away, you weren’t close. So in my mind, Lamar so desperately… desperately has got himself a Super Bowl.

While saying that, Acho emphasized that Jackson is still young but also entering his seventh season. Based on his playing style, he wonders how much more efficient the quarterback would be as the most electrifying runner that he is now and if he doesn’t chase the Super Bowl now, he might lose the opportunity to be future Hall of Famer.
