Eric Garcia close to a return to boyhood club Barcelona

Manchester City defender, Eric Garcia is set for a return to Barcelona this winter or next summer. Eric Garcia had previously refused a contract extension at City.
His current contract runs out in June, 2021. Eric Garcia is free to listen to other offers now and has reportedly agreed terms with Barcelona for a move. Manchester City have reportedly lowered their demands for Eric Garcia and are willing to accept a bid of €5 million for the Spaniard.
Eric Garcia is a La Masia product

Barcelona and Manchester City are yet to come to an agreement to facilitate a transfer in January. This means Barcelona will have to wait till the summer to get him on a free. Pep Guardiola has acknowledged the player’s desire but asserted in October that he still hoped to ‘seduce’ him into staying.
Eric Garcia has been on the fringes of the Manchester City first team for quite some time now. However, Garcia hasn’t been able to force himself into Guardiola’s first lineup.
Garcia has only 3 appearances for the club this season. His chances of playing was significantly reduced when City brought 2 centre-backs in the summer. Pep Guardiola has preferred the combination of Ruben Dias and Laporte overlooking the youngster on many instances.
The 20 year-old is considered a great potential and Barcelona have wanted him ever since he left La Masia. Koeman will look forward to the defender’s arrival as Barcelona have leaked too many goals this season.
Garcia is already inculcated within the Barcelona culture and will not take much time to settle back in. At €5 million, this could be Barcelona’s best first-team transfer in years and one that is likely to be completed in the coming days, by the looks of it.
