- Fans are criticizing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for his horrible performance after fair officiating in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals.
- Jay Williams' segment on ESPN highlights Gilgeous-Alexander's flopping and has received positive feedback from fans.
- Analysts are questioning Gilgeous-Alexander's postseason performance, linking his success to free throw calls.
After the fair officiating in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals, fans have started to realize just how much of an advantage Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates enjoyed previously.
The game was an even affair, and officials did not call fouls whenever the two-time MVP used his flopping technique against the San Antonio Spurs.
This led to him having one of his worst games of the playoffs. Even his teammates did not fare any better after they could not get the Spurs into foul trouble.
Many labeled Game 6 as the best basketball they have seen. The fair officiating proved just how much the Thunder gain when their antics work.
What that has led to is for even mainstream media to start trolling Gilgeous-Alexander and his teammates for playing ‘unethical basketball.’
We are going to have this segment called ‘Life Alert with SGA. Help me, I’m falling, and I can’t get up.’
Jay Williams said on Get Up
Before starting this segment, Jay Williams, who has defended Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as a player in the past, mentioned again that the Thunder superstar is one of the best players in the league.

But then, he went on to show the plays where the Canadian did not have to fall, but was intentionally angling his body in a way to flop and draw fouls.
Fans praise Jay Williams and ESPN for trolling Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s flopping
Jay Williams went on to showcase quite a few plays of how Shai Gilgeous-Alexander falls without there being a need to do so. He pointed out that other players would straight up complete the play without flailing in this manner.
Fans took to social media to praise the former No. 2 overall pick and ESPN for finally doing what is right. So far, they were the ones defending SGA and his Thunder amidst all the backlash.
But now, for them to call out what is evidently a blatant disrespect of the game impressed fans. Check out examples of their appreciative responses on social media below.
Thank you for calling this out. It felt like no body wanted to bring this up in mainstream media

“This is why every possession feels like a negotiation with the refs” is the single BEST way I’ve heard this Thunder conundrum described. 100% accurate.

Only OKC fans are mad lmao. Btw I think "he's looking for contact, he's not looking for the shot" is the perfect way to describe his play.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his teammates might continue to be unbothered by this, as they have done in the past. But now, the noise is growing louder.
Not only are more and more people talking about it, but it has become harder for those who defended the Thunder in the past to continue their narratives.
Nick Wright points out Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s postseason flaws
While most are focusing on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander‘s flopping, Nick Wright decided to dive deeper into how the four-time All-Star has struggled in the postseason.

The analyst first pointed out that the Thunder superstar has not had a single game where he scored less than 20 points out of 140 regular-season battles. But in the postseason, he has had six out of 37, including the one in Game 6.
He didn’t get the calls, and this postseason, his dominance has been tied directly to getting the calls… This series his inefficiency is nearing, for MVPs in a series, historic levels.
Nick Wright said
Wright also brought out a graphic to prove that when SGA has shot eight or fewer free throws in a postseason game, he has averaged 21.6 points.

That number grows by 11 points when Gilgeous-Alexander gets more than eight free throws. Therefore, the First Things First host pointed out that the point guard may not be as good as advertised.
