Elden Ring: How to complete the Boc the Seamster Questline

Let's go further into how to progress the questline of one of the few actually good NPCs in Elden Ring!

Elden Ring, as we know, is a big, immersive game from FromSoftware filled with different questlines. Some questlines are only available to start mid-game and continue till the end. At the same time, some start right at starting point and continue till the end. Iron Fist Alexander questline and the Millicent questline are prime examples. Most of these quests require some grinding, while some require you to transverse entire new areas. These quests can be fun and also challenging at times. However, there’s an NPC questline that does lead up to some later game stages but doesn’t require much work. It’s Boc the Seamster questline.

Most of the NPC questlines in Elden Ring usually end with the death of the NPC. Yes, that’s classic Soulsborne-like. However, the Boc questline has multiple endings to it, depending on the player’s choice. Whether he dies, disappears, or remains in your service is entirely up to you. Let’s explore how we can reach these decisions while transversing the Lands Between in Elden Ring.

Boc the Seamster

The first time you meet Boc, you feel like you have met a depressed person who is fed up with life. His voice is feeble, and he’s technically one of the smaller NPCs in terms of size. Boc’s end goal is to become beautiful since he has been shunned everywhere due to his ugly looks. Boc’s character is quite full of pity though as we move along his questline, we work towards helping him change his outlook on life.

Finding Boc

The first step in the Boc quest line is finding Boc, which can be a bit tricky. This is because you can’t see the guy but only hear his yelps. You’ll have to move east to Agheel Lake (the lake where you meed the first dragon in the game). Upon reaching the road that leads toward the Stormhill Castle, near the Gatefront Ruins, you spot a telescope. As you move towards the lush trees, you’ll hear yelping. That’s Boc’s voice. Move a bit closer to the voice, and you’ll notice a reddish bush. Trying rolling into it. As soon as you do that, with a dust cloud rising, Boc will appear in front of you.

“Ow! What’d you go and do that for!
Hm? Oh, yes, I remember. Some clod turned me into a tree.
You were just breaking the spell, weren’t you.
Thank you. The name’s Boc.
I was pushed out of the cave. Told not to come back, not ever.
Then I ended up as a tree.

Boc if give you x10 Mushrooms (a crafting ingredient) and move on from this location. The next meeting would be at the Coastal Cave on the beach in Limgrave.

Second Location: Coastal Cave

The second location to meet Boc is in Coastal Cave. You’ll find this cave at the beach west of Limgrave. This is an important cave, as it connects to the island that has the first Dragon Communion Seal. Upon entering the cave, you’ll see Boc lying down next to the site of grace. He’s probably hurt by the monsters in the cave. To help him, you’ll need to head towards the boss room in the cave and fight two Demi-human chiefs. Upon defeating them, you’ll get Boc’s Sewing Needle and Tailoring Tools. Give the Sewing Needle to Boc. Boc will be grateful towards you and move on to the next location, turning into a Seamster.

Third Location: Liurnia

At the Lake-Facing Cliffs site of Grace, you’ll encounter Boc again. Moreover, he can now make alterations to your armor free of cost. Now to progress the Boc questline, and have him move to the next location, you’ll need to satisfy three conditions:

Talking to Melina: You’ll have to talk to Melina regarding Boc while resting at a Site of Grace. The best grace site to talk to Melina regarding Boc is at East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace.
Buying a Legendary Armor: If you have defeated any demigod boss, you can buy their Legendrady Armor from Finger Reader Enia in the Roundtable Hold.
Obtaining the Golden Sewing Needle: Golden Sewing Needle lets you alter Legendary Armor. You can find this item at the Church of Vows in eastern Liurnia.

Give Boc the Golden Sewing Needle. This would not only allow Boc to alter Legendary Armor but also progress the Boc questline further. After this, Boc will move to the fourth Location.

Fourth Location: Bellum Highway

You’ll find Boc at the East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace next. Furthermore, for him to appear, you have to rest at the site of grace. There you’ll see the prompt to talk to Melina regarding Boc. Talk to her, exhaust her dialogues, meet Boc, and progress with your game. Moreover, the next meeting with Boc will be the final step of the Boc questline in Elden Ring.

Fifth Location and Final Step: Leyndell, The Royal Capital

This is the final step to the Boc questline. Lastly, you’ll meet Boc right next to the East Capital Ramparts Site of Grace. Upon talking to him, Boc with remarks on his appearance. Here you have three options, and performing any one may severely result in three different scenarios.

Not Giving Boc anything: This will result in Boc expressing his displeasure regarding his appearance. After you reload the location again, Boc will disappear forever.

Giving Boc a Larval Tear: Larval Tear is an important item in Elden Ring. This item lets you re-spec your character with the help of Renala. If you give Boc the Larval tear, he’ll express his yearning to be reborn as a beautiful human. This is the worse ending to the Boc’s questline. After you give him the Larval Tear, you’ll find Boc at the Raya Lucaria Academy beside Renala. He wouldn’t converse when spoken to, and after reloading the location, you’ll find the little adorable seamster dead. So, giving him a Larval Tear would inevitably lead to his death.

Using the PRATTLING PATE “YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL”: If you use the item Prattling Pate “You’re Beautiful,” Boc will be overjoyed and ask you whether you think he’s beautiful or not. Despite whatever option you may choose, Boc will continue to stay at this site of grace to be your personal Seamster. However, we recommend choosing the positive option, as that would cheer up the little guy.

The Boc questline is a questline in Elden Ring that you don’t have to go out of your way to finish. You can gradually finish this questline while progressing through the game. Moreover, upon finishing his quest (through the positive route), you’ll get a dependable friend and follower. Boc is one of the few NPCs who believes in you to claim the Throne of Elden Lord, despite you being a lowly Tarnished. So, don’t let the little guy down and help him and treat him with care!
