Consistently win more duels in Fortnite!
With Epic Games constantly introducing new events and crossovers, such as Michael Myers in Fortnite, the focus is often taken away from the core gameplay. Cosmetic items in the game are a great way to flaunt your style. However, improving your game is the only way to get victory royales consistently. One crucial aspect of your gameplay you must improve at is 1v1 duels in Fortnite.
Even if you are somebody who does not play Solo mode, there are numerous situations where you will face 1v1 duels in Fortnite in both Duo and Squad modes. This can happen when the rest of your team is dead. You will also face several situations where you may be slightly separated from the rest of your team for various reasons and have to take on enemies by yourself.

Consistently win 1v1 Duels in Fortnite
Here are four simple tips to help you come out on top of your 1v1 duels in Fortnite. These basic tips do not require you to put in hundreds of hours to master your aim and minor mechanics, although that does help. These are simple tips, but you will immediately notice yourself winning more gunfights as you apply them.
Learn Build Starts
At the beginning of any fight, you first want to start building walls to keep you safe. As a beginner, you can start with a simple 1×1 box that provides you with cover from the sides. However, you quickly want to move on to more advanced builds that allow you to keep the high ground, giving you more angles to shoot from while protecting you at the same time. Commit these builds to memory so you do not have to think twice before building them. Practice more and more to get these builds down as quickly as possible.
Improve your movements
This principle applies to almost any shooter game that you play. Good players are constantly moving when they are in fights. Standing still makes you a sitting duck, and your opponents can easily take you out. Constantly strafe left and right in a gunfight, and add some jumps and crouches to ensure your hitbox is always moving. This makes it significantly harder for other players to shoot you. Constantly moving will also make it harder for you to aim at your opponents, so practice is key.
Keep the High Ground
Attaining high ground is crucial in any shooting game, but especially Fortnite. The altitude advantage gives you a much clearer view of the battlefield and, hence, more information on how to go about your fights. This also makes it significantly easier to get headshots, as you are already aiming at your opponent from a top-down angle. Try to build a small fortress with stairs and walls around it.
Attack Enemy High Ground & Fortresses
In case you see an enemy attaining high ground using a fortress, do not build stairs to the top of their base to climb up. This leaves you highly exposed. Meanwhile, your opponent will be behind sufficient cover and can easily take you down. Rather, build your own fortress that is higher than your enemy’s. This again allows you to shoot your enemies from above, as mentioned in the previous point.
