The Indian eSports scene is booming with the ban on BGMI. For almost a year, the eSports industry in India was declining as the Gothe government had sanctioned a ban on BGMI. Moreover, the reasons behind the ban were deteriorating public order, an increase in play time leading to addiction to the game, etc. After months of fierce legal battles, the court has removed the ban on BGMI. With the ban several eSports teams are rising once again, one of them being GodLike Esports.
Chetan Chandgude (Kronten) founded GodLike Esports in 2018. The organization is based in Mumbai, India. GodLike Esports has won several tournaments, including the PUBG Mobile India Series 2020. The organization has over 100 professional players. Furthermore, GodLike Esports is one of the most popular esports organizations in India. Several brands, including Red Bull and OPPO, sponsor The Org. Moreover, this makes GodLike Esports one of the most successful esports Orgs in India.
Vivek “ClutchGod” Horo, Arjun “SHADOW” Mandhalkar, Suraj “Neyoo” Majumdar, Jonathan “JONATHAN” Amaral, Abhishek “ZGOD” Choudhary, and Abhijeet “GHATAK” And here are the members of the current GodLike Esports BGMI roster. All of these are great BGMI players from our country. Krafton has done a good job making a game that can sustain the Indian eSports industry. However, recently, the co-founder of GodLike, Amar Chandgude, has revealed that the organization would be on a break for some time to work on performance issues and self-improvement.

Why is GodLike Esports taking a break from competitive tournaments?
BGMI has made waves again with the ban being lifted on the game. With the game releasing afresh, new big eSports tournaments are slowly rising into play. Amongst these major tournaments is the Global Esports Fight Night. The organizers have scheduled the tournament to run from June 18th to June 21st, with a prize pool of 5 Lakh INR. Furthermore, the lineup for this tournament looks good. However, the tournament lineup did not include GodLike Esports, which shocked fans.
To address this, Amar Chandgude, co-owner of GodLike Esports, came forward to address this issue for the fan base. He said, “The team decided to take a break and focus on developing fresh strategies.” Amar reported that their rivals had read their current tactics and were opposing them. Amar promised fans that GodLike Esports would participate in future events run by Nodwin Gaming, even if they had to skip a few tournaments.
Furthermore, Ghatak touched upon the team’s performance issues and break on his Instagram handle. He knew that the squad had not met expectations, but he remained optimistic that they would improve. Ghatak expressed his faith in GodLike Esports to make a better comeback and thanked fans for their continued support.
Will GodLike Esports have a roster change?
As of right now, the roster for GodLike Esports is tight. The team just needs to work on their performance and new strategies, and they’ll be good to go. Neyoo also disclosed that despite some difficulties, the squad was optimistic that they would soon return to their previous form. The most recent SCS 2023 saw GodL place 12th. However, they performed better at BGMI Rising, the official launch party of BGMI, where they came in second. Jonathan recently earned a spot on the top fraggers list for Skyesports Championship Series 2023.
Overall, we’ll see the team back in action real soon. Breaks are sometimes important to work on consistency and strategies. This is a good decision made by GodLike Esports and would strengthen their team moving forward. As Amar promised, the team would return during the Nodwin Gaming tournament, so fans will have enough time to see the team at its peak.
