Concluding the Budget 2022, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his views on how he sees mobile gaming as an industry that promises growth in the upcoming years. He also emphasized the need to introduce the AVGC promotion task force announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

It can undoubtedly be said that the recent pandemic-struck years has given a boost towards the growth of mobile gaming as well as eSports. Both of these industries are now getting recognized by different countries and India, too, is not left behind. Several game developers based in India are trying to enter into the competition where international developers had been dominating until now.

Mobile gaming in India continues to grow with each passing year, this growth has even caught the eyes of gaming industry experts from around the world. From competitive tournaments with high prize pools to international organizations funding for acquiring Indian eSports athletes, it is safe to assume that India promises to be a fruitful gaming market.

Surprisingly, mobile gaming made its way in the list of Budget 2022 where Finance Minister informed that a task force will be set up that will promote AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics). This move was welcomed by Indian eSports and gaming industry experts.

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi also reiterated the fact that he sees immense potential in the mobile gaming market. He also remained optimistic that AVGC promotion task force will be widely beneficial for the industry experts. Prime Minister was quoted saying-

"India is one of the Top 5 markets of mobile gaming, you cannot stop teenagers to play mobile games. But for how long will they continue to play games made by foreign developers, hence we have introduced AVGC program to empower local talent and make India a global developer and a hub of mobile games. Gaming sector holds an immense potential to boost 'Create in India' vision of the nation"

It is important to note that this is not the first time that the Prime Minister of India has addressed the mobile gaming industry. He had previously highlighted the fact that more focus should be given to developing games that held the Indian essence. It is worth to mention here that several Indian gaming developers have been launching Indian themed to counter the popularity of international games.

The growing mobile gaming market of India is evident from the fact that the revenue from the gaming industry is projected to touch around $5 billion by 2025. With the government taking more steps to increase homegrown gaming developers, gamers look forward towards a bright year ahead.
