Baldur’s Gate 3 wins the Game of the Year Award 2023
The Game Awards 2023 concluded with Baldur’s Gate 3 winning the Game of the Year 2023 prize. The night was incredibly successful for the game’s developers, Larian Studios.
The gaming studio also won titles for Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, Best Community Support, and the Players’ Voice Award. Neil Newbon also won Best Performance for playing Astarion in the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the much-anticipated RPG from Larian Studios, released 23 years after the second game in the series. It is based on the tabletop board game Dungeons & Dragons and employs a turn-based combat system that perfectly blends strategy and adaptability.
Larian Studios and Alan Wake 2 were tied for first place with eight different nominations across the various categories. The grand success of Baldur’s Gate 3 has surprised many, not because of a lack of quality but because the game is of a genre that generally does not have mass appeal. However, this series edition has attracted diehard and casual fans alike.
This isn’t the only achievement the game has achieved this year. Baldur’s Gate 3 also won Ultimate Game of the Year at the UK’s Golden Joystick Awards and six other categories at the same event.
