Indian government’s talks with Krafton hints on BGMI unban
When Battlegrounds Mobile India was first launched in the country, it was considered as the ‘clone’ of PUBG Mobile but the developers made it sure that the game does not get banned once again in a country where they have a prosperous market. This compelled them to bring several modifications to their privacy policies for the Indian users.
Unfortunately, the measures taken by the developers went in vain as the game got removed from Google Play Store and App Store on 28th July which later was confirmed to be a ban on the game by a spokesperson. The ban came under IT Law Section 69 A which was the same law under which PUBG Mobile and Free Fire got banned.
Under this law, the Indian government can deny the access to certain computer applications which are harmful to the security of the country. Krafton, was therefore accused of allegedly providing the player’s data to the Chinese authorities, harming the nation’s sovereignty and integrity.
Sean Hyunil Sohn, the CEO of Krafton for the Indian division provided assurance that Krafton has followed all the rules and regulations of the privacy policy and is also in talks with the government so that the game could be brought back. Some sources of Talk Esports have now revealed that the government has provided 14 days to Krafton to prove that it does not have any Chinese connection.
This has come as a surprise to the fans who believed that the game cannot be unbanned in the country and might have the same fate like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire. Now that the concerned authorities are ready to hold talks, it seems that BGMI could make a comeback for Android and iOS devices.
