With streamer and esports dramas popping up almost every day, we now move on to game dramas. 2023 has been a pandora’s box of controversies coming up every here and there. The Microsoft x Activision Blizzard deal hasn’t yet gone through, with Sony standing strongly in opposition. And now, Blizzard has sprung into another controversy regarding its latest release, Diablo 4. Furthermore, the community is calling this the biggest Diablo 4 drama that happened till now.
Recently, Blizzard hosted a challenge called “The Diablo 4 Hardcore Challenge.” The guidelines of the challenge were, “The first 1,000 players who reached Level 100 with one character in Hardcore mode will have their name inscribed on an elegant statue of the Blessed Mother, Lilith.” Throughout the series, Diablo’s hardcore mode has been famed for being notoriously hard. If you die even once throughout the playthrough, you lose your character and all progress. So reaching level 100 on a character in Hardcore mode is hardcore.
However, this top 1000 list did not include everyone who made the charts. A lot of players poured in their blood, sweat & tears in grinding to level 100 in the hopes of making it to the list but weren’t included. Most of these players felt disheartened, and some fairly popular ones took to Twitter and addressed the issue. Amonsgold, one of the most famous Twitch streamers, talked about this Diablo 4 drama and stood up for these unfortunate players.

Diablo 4 drama & Asmongold’s take on it
The Diablo 4 Hardcore Challenge ended yesterday and featured the top 1000 players who reached level 100, the fastest in Hardcore mode. Blizzard hosted this contest on Diablo 4’s official Twitter handle, where players had to provide proof of being in the top 1000 with a character level of 100 in hardcore mode. However, this contest slowly transformed into another Diablo 4 drama, where many players provided proof but were not included in the final list.
Asmongold laid down certain guidelines of how you could’ve made the cut and not (a reference to the image above). A follower started ranting over how these players must’ve not purchased the game beta, and they shouldn’t be on the list. So, to make the guidelines of the context clear, Asmongold typed it down for the viewers. Asmongold further voiced for the players who were caught in this predicament through a reply on their official tweet.
Please look into some of the people who's names weren't included but who followed all the rules!@Rakin and @DjMontague two guys in this thread with tweets that should have placed them in top 1000 didn't get it, imagine how many non-CC will get missed and not even realize

One such player even asked Blizzard through DM chat and made sure his data was correct. Blizzard even gave him an initial confirmation, only to not include his name on the Statue. Blizzard has yet to respond to all the grievances caused by this Diablo 4 drama and give a plausible reason for not including the qualified players’ names on the list.
