Boycott Twitch trends on Twitter after streamer suffers serious injury at TwitchCon 2022
Adriana Chechik breaks her back at TwitchCon 2022 San Diego
The San Diego TwitchCon 2022 commenced from 7th October and was a massive success, with many different streamers coming together for the grand event. However, now the Amazon-owned platform is getting called out for various things that occurred during the event. In fact, a recent incident has triggered a ‘Boycott Twitch’ movement on Twitter, with the hashtag now trending on the platform.
A streamer allegedly broke her back and went for a surgery after she dived into the foam pit kept for entertainment purpose at the convention. Following this unfortunate incident, several streamers are reporting ill treatment by the staff members.
San Diego TwitchCon turns out to be tragic for some streamers
After hosting a convention for European fans in Amsterdam, Twitch officials brought TwitchCon 2022 to San Diego to welcome all the American streamers for a meet and greet with their fans. The event which is going to conclude in a couple of hours saw some big turnouts such as Valkyrae, xQc, HasanAbi, and others.
One of the most popular Minecraft creator ‘Dream‘ along with his SMP cast also joined the event after Dream had unveiled his face to the internet, breaking his viewership record. While it was considered that the event will be a huge success, it actually turned out to be the opposite as fans were unhappy due to the poor management by the hosts.
Hours after that, a small-time Twitch streamer ‘Adriana Chechik’ reportedly broke her back while jumping into a foam pit. The video surfaced on social media where she could be seen, unable to get up after jumping from an elevated platform. She later took to Twitter to inform-
"Well, I broke my back in two places and am getting surgery to put a meter rod in for support today. Send your support. When it rains it pours and I am definitely feeling the rain right now."
It was explained by a user that Adriana had apparently landed on a hard surface which led her to suffer a serious injury on her back, which clearly indicates poor management by the Twitch officials present at the San Diego event.
Other streamers share their plight
Adriana’s friend who was present in the video also suffered from an injury, and asked others to come forward and share if they too met with a similar sort of accident. The responses were quite shocking.
Fans are quite enraged with the facilities arranged at the San Diego Twitch Convention 2022. Many of them have demanded a boycott, bringing out previous instances such as the gambling drama, content creators revenue split and the recent foam pit accident might have added fuel to the fire.
