“It’s just how it’s gonna be”: CDawgVA responds to backlash over Pokimane’s Trash Taste appearance

The backlash comes from the community believing Pokimane is already a big enough creator, and she doesn't need their promotion

Connor Colquhoun, known online as CDawgVA, has recently spoken out against the backlash he has been receiving following Pokimane’s appearance on the Trash Taste Podcast. Colquhoun is a co-host of the podcast.

Most of the online backlash comes from fans being upset over the podcast straying from its usual trend of promoting lesser-known creators and content in the anime and gaming industry.

CDawgVA doesn’t want an “echo chamber” forming in his community

"It's just how it's gonna be": CDawgVA responds to backlash over Pokimane's Trash Taste appearance
The Trash Taste Podcast is an anime-themed podcast hosted by Gigguk, TheAn1meMan and CDawgVA

CDawgVA is one of the hosts of the popular anime podcast Trash Taste along with Joey “TheAn1meMan” and Garnt “Gigguk”. The podcast’s latest episode had featured the Twitch streamer Pokimane as a guest. This fact did not sit well with the existing fans of the podcast, and they were extremely vocal in sounding the issues they had on the podcast’s subreddit.

Fans took issue with the fact that Pokimane already had a substantial fan-following, while the podcast usually uses its platform lease known works and creators in the anime and gaming sphere. CDawgVA was asked his take on this situation in a recent Twitch stream The podcaster replied-

"I don't really care. Sometimes, the subreddit really gets like that. They just get it in their head. They whop themselves over nothing."

CDawgVA went on to state that Trash Taste just films with whosoever they wish to, and think can hold an interesting conversation with them. “It’s just how it’s gonna be” he affirmed. He felt that if they kept getting guests that everyone likes, it would form an “echo chamber” and that they like getting guests even if they are considered controversial.

CDawgVA also talked how he didn’t feel Pokimane was as bad as people are making her out to be, “I thought Poki was good. She’s very nice. She’s lovely.” he said. He justified that not all guests will be liked by all the viewers, but it’s either this, or Trash Taste won’t be uploading podcasts weekly.
