Cloud 9 parts ways with Valorant Pro Yay after VCT LOCK//IN
Cloud 9 might have dropped a massive ball by dropping El Diablo from their team
During the VCT Champions 2022, Valorant revealed the 30 Franchised teams for VCT season 2023. However, The runner-up team of VCT 2022, Optic Gaming, didn’t make the cut and wasn’t offered the franchising spot. So, Optic Gaming’s roster including their coach was signed to other franchised teams. Crashies, FNS, Victor, and coach Chet all went to NRG. Optic’s key player El Diablo, Yay was signed by Cloud 9. Both of these teams are partnered organisation in the VCT Americas League.
Cloud was eliminated after losing their second match against DRX. C9 dominated one match however DRX just obliterated the other 2 resulting disappointing loss for C9. Yay’s performance was rather underwhelming in accordance with how great of a player he is. A few days after C9’s exit, Yay removed Cloud 9 affiliations which led to speculation that he might be parting ways. But later it has been confirmed that Cloud 9 and El Diablo have indeed parted ways.
Although the reason for his resignation from Cloud9 is currently unknown, sources claim that he and the company mutually decided to split ways. However, It’s doubtful that the decision was prompted by Yay’s performance. Making such a drastic shift so early in the season seems premature given yay’s continuous standing as one of the best players in the world.
Fans will no more see Yay in Blue Cloud 9 jersey
Both Org and Yay mutually decided and signed the release. It has been less than 6 months since Cloud 9 revealed that Yay will be playing for their organization along with Leaf, Xeppa, Vanity, and the newly signed Zellsis. Cloud 9 will start scouting for new professionals for their team. According to some sources, former Optic player Marved is the favorite to fill in Yay’s slot in Cloud 9. Marvel hasn’t signed with any of the organizations after being released from Optic Gaming. Cloud 9 will be the first team this season to change their roster this early in the 2023 season. Many have been surprised by the decision to break ways with you so early in the 2023 VCT season, and it is unclear how Cloud9’s Valorant roster would fare without him.
What’s Next For Yay
Yay has revealed through his Twitter bio that he will be playing for content creator Ludwig’s Moist Esports. They are currently competing in NA Challengers.
Yay formerly used to play Chamber but after nerfs, he was seen using Jett and Sage in VCT LOCK//IN. A whole season without the best Valorant player will feel incomplete. It will be interesting see if any franchised org pumps a lot of money to sign Yay during mid season draft which will happen between 6 March to 25 March.
