Apex Legends Mobile is shutting down
Less than a year after launching the game, EA has decided to shut down the operations of Apex Legends Mobile. The battle-royale shooter was one of the most downloaded video game last year and the sudden decision has left players in disbelief.
The official website of Apex Legends Mobile broke the announcement in a latest press release. As per the official statement, the developers have decided to ‘sunset their mobile game’. However, the game’s servers is not going inaccessible right away as a 90-day window has been provided.
At 4 PM PDT on May 1st, 2023, operations of this game will be ceased across all the playable regions. On the flip side, players won’t be able to make any in-app purchases starting from today. Eventually the game will also get removed from web stores but players can continue spending on the Syndicate account in the meantime.

Why is EA shutting down Apex Legends Mobile?
Following a closed beta test for some regions, Apex Legends received its mobile spin-off on 17th May 2022. The video game received an overwhelming response from the community which led it to get nominated for the Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2022.
Despite this success, Respawn Entertainment believes that the game has fell short of the bar of quality, quantity, and cadence. This is the primary reason for shutting down the operations of this game.

Although they made it clear that they will continue to look forward to ‘mobile’ as a platform for video games. The press release mentioned that the team looks forward to new opportunities to serve players there in the future.
Will players get a refund on their account?
Several Apex Legends Mobile players have made in-app purchases and also hold a significant amount of virtual currency on their account. This has created a ruckus in the community as the officials have stated that a refund will not be issued.
The statement also explains that players can directly contact the third-party purchase stores such as Google Play Store and App Store if they have made any in-app purchase through these stores.
As for the PC version of Apex Legends, players can heave a sigh of relief as the game will continue its operations on both PC and consoles. The franchise is still going strong, as described by the developers.
