The highly anticipated and long-awaited Counter-Strike 2 is finally here. The sequel to CS: GO is a monumental day for the gaming community. As expected, it has already been reported to have achieved massive success. The much-awaited game has gone live on Steam for PC players, taking over the decade-old CS: GO sequel. After surprising fans at the beginning of the year, the game has now arrived on September 27th, 2023.

The game will be run on Source Engine 2 and is developed by Valve. It will look to outdo the nearly decade-old first-person shooter game with a multitude of upgrades, newly designed maps, features, and even improved smoke grenades! The eSports scene has been buzzing, as the CS: GO sequel will be available for free for the entire community.

As for those who have installed CS: GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive), they will now find an upgrade notification in it to launch the newly released sequel. The new trailer was also released along with the announcement and is sitting over 8.9 million views, along with 190k likes in just 12 hours on X (formerly Twitter)! However, what seems to have caught everyone’s attention is the massive success of the earnings the game secured from case openings prior to its launch.

CS:2 generates over $40 million in under an hour through case openings

Despite all the hype over the opportunities for players to grind on their ranks from scratch, what seems more mind-boggling is the massive success of Counter-Strike 2. Although the game is available for free, it is reported to have made a whopping $40 million in just 40 minutes, only through players opening loots following the game’s release.

This will now encourage players to buy even more crates, as the market seems to be in demand. This would also prompt players to fish for more high-tier drops, so it could serve as an investment in the future. The rarity of these skins happens to accumulate over time. The look to find something spectacular has brought a high to the market and an impressive opening for Counter-Strike 2, as it has not even completed a 24-hour cycle of its release thus far.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

The unexpected announcement of the new game, along with the inevitable hype created, had all contributed to the massive flood of players enjoying Counter-Strike 2 within hours of its release. So much so that it was reported that there were server issues due to the massive number of players on it. This would prompt players to really look out for rare skins, as they would be that much more worthy when the servers weren’t as flooded.
