Fitness of the player plays an important role in the player’s performance in FIFA 23

Fitness in FIFA 23 is a measure of the player’s physical condition. Agility, speed, balance, and motor coordination are all directly related. Fitness is quantified in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team on a scale from 1 to 99. It is better if it’s higher on the scale. The ideal physical state for a player is 99. It is a maximum growth in fitness.

Three methods exist for visualising a player’s level of fitness:

  • Blue bar over the player name in-game
  • Green bar above the player’s name on the Pause Screen
  • Team Management (pause – team management – squad – select a player).

Each player has two fitness bars. These consist of the Instant Bar and the Accumulated Bar. The Instant Bar refers to a blue bar, that turns red in situations where the player exerts himself too much and becomes tired. The Accumulated Bar is represented by a white bar with the blue bar forming a layer over it. During sprints, ball fights, or other forms of exertion, the Instant Bar diminishes and then regenerates. The Accumulated Bar functions as a ceiling for the instant fitness bar and will steadily decrease throughout a game.

The Fitness Bar is affected by the following factors, so make sure to manage these factors accordingly:

  • Playing Time

The amount of time a player spends on the field closely relates to his spent fitness. In general, if he plays for just one half, he will have used up half the amount of fitness as compared to how much he would have used up playing for 90 minutes.

  • Stamina

Each player has a varied level of stamina. Make sure your players have a high “stamina” stat in-game if you want to see them sprinting as hard at the conclusion of games as they do at the beginning.

  • Effort Put In

As they exert themselves, players become exhausted. In FUT 23, the distance travelled as well as the intensity and frequency of the body’s work are used to calculate this effort rate.

  • Work Rate

Work rate has a significant impact on how many fitness points a player would lose.
