Ted Lasso to Debut in FIFA 23 With AFC Richmond in a Massive Reveal

Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond have been added to FIFA 23 following a huge announcement which has fans excited

AFC Richmond has finally made its way into EA Sports’ FIFA 23! Practically every real-life professional football team has been added to FIFA 23, with the exception of a few. Teams from the SuperLiga in Romania, to the Women’s Super League, have been covered and incorporated in the game.

These real-life teams will now be accompanied by a fictional one in the form of AFC Richmond, from the mega-hit TV show, ‘Ted Lasso’. It was announced on Wednesday that the fictional club from Apple TV+’s hit show “Ted Lasso” will become a playable team in the EA SPORTS FIFA 23 video game. Have a look below to know more.

Also known as ‘The Greyhounds’, AFC Richmond will appear by default in the Rest of World category and can be toggled between Career Mode, Kickoff, and Online Play. The character Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, will be available in Career Mode. This means Ted Lasso will be one of the authentic managers in FIFA 23 Career Mode, allowing you to become the character and take charge of the prestigious AFC Richmond.

The cast includes Lasso himself (modeled after actor Jason Sudeikis), grumpy veteran Roy Kent, prodigy Sam Obisanya, the difficult-to-like Jamie Tartt, and all the other characters in the series . You can control a team or join a team with a custom character as a manager or player in career mode or online in multiplayer matches. Jerseys, Nelson Road Stadium, and Club Badges can also be unlocked in Ultimate Team and Pro Clubs modes.

Jason Sudeikis said in a statement, “I am truly fortunate, and deeply grateful, to have had many special moments in my career thus far, and I consider this experience among the best of them.” H also said, “As long-time fans of EA SPORTS FIFA, having Ted Lasso and the whole AFC Richmond squad incorporated into the newest version of the game is truly a dream come true for myself and the rest of the fellas.”

The striker of AFC Richmond, Jamie Tartt, who is played by Phil Dunster, probably has most reason for excitement. The actor has had an interest in FIFA since 1999, saying, “It (playing FIFA) was the closest I got to an addiction”. Dunster’s character Jamie Tartt is a massively talented striker, unlike Dunster in real life! Tartt was a vital member of Lasso’s team, and was even good enough to play for Manchester City in the series.

“I think Jamie is 25. He’s not yet capped for England, so he’s not that level, but he’s also a hot shot striker. Listen, Harry Kane’s been playing for England. It’s hard to be an English striker because Harry Kane is always fit,” Dunster said. “So that’s probably why [Tartt] hasn’t been like at the top, top, top of his game, haven’t given the opportunities. But he was at City — really, really promising player. So with all of those things in mind, I reckon he’s — I’m going to say overall 84.” Dunster’s prediction was spot-on, with Jamie Tartt being given an overall rating of 84 by EA Sports in FIFA 23.
