Fishing is a mechanic in Battle Royale where players use a Fishing Rod or Harpoon Gun to catch fish which all have different abilities, weapons, materials, and ammo. Explosions can also blow up Fishing Spots to obtain fish and other items.

In general, fishing rods are used to fish on plain water or fishing spots. Players can also use it to ride sharks. Most of the fishes are used for healing purposes, but some come with their own unique traits.

There are several types of fish in the game. Most of these restore health but there are a few that have some really unique abilities. Fortnite players can try fishing in any body of water and catch fish, they will have more luck fishing in designated fishing spots.

• Black Striped Shield Fish- only available in the coastal areas
• Green Shield Fish- only available in forest areas
• Pink Shield Fish- can be caught anywhere but requires a Pro Fishing Rod 
• Light Blue Shield Fish- anywhere
• Blue Slurpfish- anywhere
• Yellow Slurpfish- only available in swamp areas
• Purple Slurpfish- only available in mountainous areas
• Black Slurpfish- can only be caught in coastal areas during nighttime
• White Slurpfish- can only be caught in swamp areas using Pro Fishing Rod during nighttime
• Light Blue Small Fry- can be caught everywhere except fishing holes; harpoons cannot be used
