The mobile gaming sector in India has been under heavy scrutiny since its dawn. The shooter genre remains at the top of this chart to date. Being really addictive, violent in nature, and easily accessible are some of the major reasons for the criticism. Furthermore, the made in China nature of these games led to the banning of many popular games. BGMI’s rival, Free Fire, was also banned in India with the crackdown on Chinese apps. However, the game may be coming back soon in the country!
After a year, the government repealed the BGMI ban in May 2023. Government initially prohibited the game due to security issues. However, devs made some adjustments and brought it back. BGMI’s return has thrilled fans who have been waiting impatiently for the game to come back. Since its reintroduction, the game has gained a lot of popularity and is currently one of the most popular games in India.
Before the Government banned Free Fire, the game had all the hype amongst the Indian mobile gaming community. The game thrived as an alternative to BGMI during the Krafton game’s ban. However, the Government banned Free Fire in February 2023 due to a crackdown on Chinese apps initiative. Although a piece of good news for fans, the game is soon coming back to India once again!

BGMI’s rival Free Fire coming back in India
Trolls Official posted images from a potential photoshoot on their Instagram account, including cosplayers dressed as well-known in-game characters Kelly, Maxim, and Hayato in different parts of Mumbai. After pictures of the game’s protagonists walking around Mumbai’s streets appeared online, rumors about Free Fire’s return to India started to circulate once more.
The game will be resurrected in September 2023, according to Gyan Gaming, a well-known member of the gaming community’s Instagram story. Despite this, the Indian celebrity promptly deleted story. This definitely led to a lot of talks for the potential return of the game! The co-founder of Chemin Esports, Diptanshu Saini, declared in one of his Instagram stories dated July 2023 that the protracted wait was now ended.
Rishi Alwani disclosed in a now deleted Twitter post that a number of journalists had received email correspondence from Free Fire’s PR over the game’s potential return. He continued by saying that the PR firm incorrectly publicised the game’s long-awaited comeback to the Indian market.
All these teases and information has vieled the game’s potential return behind loads of undisclosed and false information. Is the game really coming back, or is it a hoax, it’s still unknown. However, considering the current BGMI eSports scene booming, with BGIS and other eSports tournaments have definelty stirred the Indian market. So Free Fire coming back to India, would defiently boost the Indian Mobile Gaming Community further!
