Free Fire had made garnered a huge player-base in India, and players were dismayed yesterday after its sudden disappearance from the Apple and Google Play store. However, today news stated that Garena Free Fire Banned in India, as per orders from the Government.

The Free Fire community in India was baffled over the happenings of yesterday, as the game suddenly disappeared from the app stores of both iOS and Android phones. Many people speculated that it may have been banned by the Indian Government and many stated it to be a technical glitch. However, today it is confirmed that the former is true and the ministry has indeed banned the game without any prior notice.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has declared the ban of Garena Free Fire along with 53 other Chinese mobile apps.

This Free Fire ban comes out of the blue because nothing about it was released with prior notice. Moreover, the Free Fire developers are based in Singapore and not in China, making the ban even more questionable.

This ban of Chinese apps had earlier affected the Indian subcontinent in September 2020. At that time the leading battle royale game, PUBG Mobile was banned in India along with many other apps. Almost like a mirror event, this time it is the popular battle royale game Free Fire and other Chinese apps.

The decision to ban has not been clarified yet by the Home Ministry, but the ban is official. Earlier many other apps like TikTok, AliExpress, and PUBG were banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY).

However, to the surprise of many players, Free Fire Max, which is the upgraded version of the base game, is still running on Indian servers. Free Fire players can only wait and watch for any further developments.
