While completing the main quests in Hogwarts Legacy is necessary for going through the story, there are also tonnes of side quests that are accessible that provide extra content and rewards. These side missions can involve straightforward jobs or difficult adventures, but they are all worthwhile chances to explore the Wizarding World. Most of the time, you will be helping someone while completing side quests. However, in some side quests, you will be prompted to take the wrong turn.

Venomous Revenge is one such side quest. Venomous Revenge is less a test of ability or knowledge and more an assessment of the player’s moral character. Of course, for most Hogwarts Legacy players, the decision will be considerably simpler given that there are no penalties for choosing the wrong option.

You will be able to participate in this side quest after you complete ‘The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament’ main quest and unlocked the Alohomora spell. In order to start the quest, you need to head to Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. There you will meet a shady-looking lad, Ackley Barnes behind the ‘Three Broomsticks’ store. You will have the option to interact with Ackley.

Your character will approach him and ask him how’s he doing. Barnes will tell you about his dilemma. Barnes reveals that he wants to take revenge on his former business partner, Alfred Lawley. In their Herbology supply company, Lawley terminated their collaboration, denying Barnes any share of the earnings.

Barnes soon realizes that it will be a good idea to send a student to steal the Venomous Tentacula from Lawley’s basement. Alfred Lawley considers Venomous Tentacula very valuable. So Barnes asks you to break into Lawley’s basement and steal these rare herbology supplies. You will be given 2 dialogue choices whether you will or won’t do this larceny. Stealing Venomous Tentacula will not affect your main quest progress or any gameplay experience whatsoever.

After accepting to steal the herbology supplies, you have to locate Alfred’s cellar in the Hogsmeade. You must be careful while breaching the cellar as Lawley won’t be too far. You can use the Disillusionment spell. After you open the door, keep an eye out for Hornback spiders that may be lurking nearby. There are two approaches to the problem.

Play covertly to avoid the Thornback spiders or fight them to the death. After passing these spiders, you will see a pot with Venomous Tentacula. You need just to take this plant and give it back to Ackley Barnes. You can ask him for extra gold while handing over the herb.

If you don’t want to deal with your demon and don’t want to steal the Venomous Tentacula, you can also grow one in the Room of Requirement or you can also buy one from the Dogweed and Deathcap Store. However, it will be more profitable to steal one as you will also get some other useful herbology supplies.
