BGMI, a popular battle royale game, took over the mobile gaming world in 2019 and the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the game suffered a tremendous downfall shortly after its global variant, PUBG Mobile, was banned by the Government of India in the latter half of 2020. While the game was soon relaunched as Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), it never picked up where it left off.
BGMI has had a rough journey since its release for both iOS and Android devices. The game was banned again in mid-2022, with the ban being lifted nearly a year later.
With the drop of the new year’s ball in 2024, many gamers wonder about the game’s state and whether BGMI is still worth playing in 2024.
Regardless, the game, developed by Krafton, has engaged millions of gamers across India with its thrilling battle royale gameplay.
A huge positive aspect that the game has going for itself is the developers’ constant support and efforts to make the game feel fresh through new in-game modes and content. They are also quick at fixing any bugs players may encounter in-game.
The realistic graphics and high-quality gameplay are also great upsides for the game. BGMI is still one of the most robust video games developed for mobile devices.
The game also has a great social aspect. You can easily connect with friends and jump into lobbies together. It is also a great way to meet new gamers around the globe and form squads to take down entire lobbies.
Should you play BGMI in 2024?
Unfortunately, many problems are running rampant in the game that ruin the experience for many players. The game’s anti-cheating software is not up to par.
This will make you run into hackers and cheaters quite often. Spotting someone using an aimbot or wallhacks is not a rare occurrence in BGMI.
The developers also introduced many bots into the lobby to speed up matchmaking times. This makes the gameplay quite dull.
BGMI’s core gameplay has also not changed over the past few years. Fans of the battle royale genre might find the gameplay old and monotonous.
Despite this, the game’s esports scene continues to be as hot as ever, with Krafton recently organizing an India-Korea invitational event.
BGMI still has a very healthy player base. There is no doubt that BGMI is something that all gamers will enjoy, even in 2024.
