Who will bag the trophy this year?

The most awaited streamer award show is here with some more nominations for the ‘Streamer of the Year’ award this year. Some new names such as Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed have popped up on the list but one of the most prominent YouTuber Herschel ‘Dr DisRespect’ Guy Beahm has been missing out on the list despite his raging popularity.

To honor the American digital content creators in different categories, Tubefilter presents an annual award show for them. The YouTube Streamy Awards or the Streamy Awards are back with their 12th iteration, announcing the nominees for different categories.

The award show which is going to livestreamed on YouTube on December 4th has chosen the following creators for their ‘Streamer of the Year 2022’ award-

The list was followed some surprising reactions from the streamers as well as viewers as Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed’s names were quite unexpected, considering the fact that they achieved the breakthrough in livestreaming in the recent months only.

iShowSpeed was a ‘surprise’ but Dr DisRespect’s absence was a ‘shocker’

Perhaps the most honorable award to be received at the Streamy Awards 2022 is the ‘Streamer of the Year’ after the ‘Creator of the Year’ award. The latter category is being dominated by MrBeast for two years straight but the former award nominees as well as winners come as a surprise every year.

This year as well, fans witnessed some surprising nominees such as Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed. Both of the creators have received a breakthrough this year for their entertaining content where Kai Cenat was able to become the most subscribed streamer in the world in English language.

Darren ‘iShowSpeed’ on the other hand might have become a mainstream content creator through his controversial videos and hilarious challenges taken by him during his livestream. The avid fan of Portuguese footballer ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ is also found making music dedicated to his idol, if he is away from his streaming setup.

While it will be intriguing to see the competition between Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed, it was quite astonishing that major streamers such as Dr DisRespect, Ibai, Amouranth were nowhere to be seen in the list. These ‘snubbed’ names have been quite active in the streaming scenario and their popularity might even be at an all-time high but their absence certainly remains questionable.

YouTuber Rachell ‘Valkyrae‘ Hofstetter was able to bag the trophy of ‘Streamer of the Year’ in 2021 with Auronplay, Nickmercs, Shroud and others being the nominees. Valkyrae has had a fruitful time this year as well in aspect of streaming, therefore, it won’t be a surprise if she wins it again.

Fans start a debate on the deserving winner this year

Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed have developed quite a large community on social media which has led to fans claiming that they should win this year’s award or else the show is rigged. Others were surprised to see that emerging creators such as Sykkuno and Fuslie were not on the list.
