LeBron James sparks streaming war between Twitch and Kick as basketball legend reveals to start streaming
LeBron James torn between which streaming platform to choose for his MADDEN video game streams.
The streaming war between Twitch and Kick has been brewing for a long time. Many streaming platforms, such as Mixer and Facebook Gaming, have tried to take down Twitch to no avail. It seems that Kick is next in line. The two platforms have fought over many streamers. However, they are now fighting over the LA Lakers superstar LeBron James.
The Kick platform has signed many huge free agents to their platform, including Adin Ross, Tfue, and Nickmercs. All were former Twitch streamers who were huge on the platform. It seems like the two are about to go into another bidding war for one of the best basketball players of the generation, LeBron James.
LeBron James decides to start streaming, torn between platforms
On December 29th, former Mr. Basketball USA, LeBron James, announced on Twitter that he wanted to get into the world of video game streaming. He wanted to stream games the famous American Football video game Madden. He then asked his fans on Twitter which platform he should start streaming on.
It was only a matter of time before huge Kick streamers tried to convince the basketball legend to come to their platform. Kick streamer Trainwrecks encouraged LeBron to go to Kick by tweeting, “Stream with us.” Adin Ross also joined the conversation by saying,
“Come to Kick. I’ll get you a bag, my glorious king.”
Things started getting more serious when some high-level executives from Kick decided to join the conversation themselves. Head of Strategic Partnerships at Kick, Andrew Santamaria, tweeted “Time to work” implying that he was perhaps preparing a particular contract for the Los Angeles Lakers star.
On the other hand, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy chimed in by admitting that he was biased towards Twitch. However, he felt it was the best platform for engaging with fans. He also gave him the option of streaming on both Twitch and YouTube at the same time. The interesting thing to note is that Kick mainly offers non-exclusive platforms to streamers, therefore allowing LeBron James to stream on both platforms simultaneously.
