The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most highly-anticipated video game releases of the year. Fans have been eagerly waiting for any new information about the game since it was first announced in 2019. Fans of the series were excited to see that the game was showcased at the recent Nintendo Direct event.

The recent release of uninterrupted gameplay footage has given fans a closer look at the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The gameplay footage begins with Link riding on a horse through the fields of Hyrule. The UI in the sequel is very similar to the one in the previous game, Breath of the Wild. In the bottom right corner, players can see the temperature, weather, time, and minimap. Meanwhile, Link’s health and inventory are displayed in the upper left. Replacing the Rune icon with an Apple symbol indicates a food menu shortcut and is one of the more notable changes.. The game recently went gold and is expected to release on May 12, 2023.

As the gameplay progresses, players get to see some of the changes that Nintendo has made to the game’s version of Hyrule. Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma hinted that there are a lot of changes. “If we talk about all the changes today, we’ll run out of time.” He said while talking about the changes made to the game. One of the most significant changes is the addition of the Sky Islands, which are massive land masses floating in the sky. Link is able to travel to these islands by riding on a rock that he can control with a new Recall ability.

The durability system from Breath of the Wild also returns in Tears of the Kingdom, which means that weapons and items will break after prolonged use. However, a new mechanic allows players to Fuse two or more items together to create a stronger weapon or item. For example, Link can Fuse a Tree Branch and a Rock together to create a makeshift hammer, or he can Fuse a stick and a Pitchfork together to create an extremely long weapon.

Another new ability is the Ascend ability. This will allow Link to move through ceilings to advance to the floor above. Players can use this to skip climbing sections and get to higher areas more quickly.

The gameplay footage also showcases the Ultrahand ability. Players can use the Ultrahand ability to construct vehicles like rafts and other machines. Link can combine different materials to create these vehicles.

The gameplay footage blew away fans and critics alike. The release of the footage only adds to the hype behind Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and fans will eagerly be waiting for more details on the game.
