Last month, the coveted map creator, Shaun “FMPONE” Snelling, revealed he was creating a map named ‘Santorini’ for CS2. According to him, the map is being created with all the tools in the Source Engine 2 arsenal. He even gave the Counter-Strike community screenshots of the map, which is based on the Greek island of the same name.

However, on May 20, he posted more snaps of the map which looks beautiful and picturesque. If you are a CS: GO history buff, then you might have come across the said map a while back, but its stay was short. ‘Operation Wild Fire’ added Santorini to CS: GO. It was part of the community map scenario but never made it into the competitive map pool. Moreover, it was removed from the game once Operation Wildfire ended. You can still play the map by just searching for it in the Workshop Map.

Apart from ‘Santorini,” one of FMPONE’s best creations, De_Cache will also feature in CS2. One of CS: GO’s longest-serving maps was later removed from the competitive map pool to make way for Ancient and Anubis.

As expected, fans weren’t that happy when Valve announced it, and both maps took time to get going. With lots of changes, especially for Ancient in terms of brightness and texture fixes, the CS: GO community had a hard time adapting to them. For now, there’s only news about Cache being in the game. However, we still don’t know whether it received any changes or not.
